GREAT WAR - A CARVED WOODEN COMMEMORATIVE PIPE BOWL inscribed '4 May 1917 Anchises - 11 June 1917 Trent, Salamis 11.2.19 - Marathon 22.2.19' with a Chester hallmarked silver mount together with a trench art brass decorated miniature photograph frame with black and white studio study of a soldier, 6.5cm x 9cm, (2). The following lots were purchased by Warner Dailey in August 2006 from the private collection of Captain Robert P. Hallsey, loadmaster on C141 aircraft at the Travis Air Force Base, California, 86 Squadron, which flew to and from Vietnam regularly. During his term of service there he saw many young serviceman pass through and return, and he purchased, traded or was gifted many of their 'war souvenirs'.

A set of four George III silver and pierced oval open salts on claw and ball feet (London 1773 by Robert Hennell I) 8.39oz, with Bristol blue liners (one liner very damaged) CONDITION REPORTS Various small dents, scratches, out of shape, some of the feet are bent inwards. Splits to the top. One blue glass liner with large chunk out of it, others with small chips, scratches, etc. General wear and tear throughout.
A George II silver baluster shaped mug with scrollwork handle raised on a circular foot (by Thomas Whipham London 1755) 6.35oz, together with eleven various silver spoons / butter knives, and a plated butter knife, 5.3oz total CONDITION REPORTS Mug - some small dents throughout, light scratches, base of the handle has been resoldered, impressed marks, foot is slightly out of circular, foot has possibly been off and resoldered, 1/2 pint sized, general wear and tear. Spoons etc - general wear and tear, scratches, etc. Ther are no dog nosed spoons in this lot.

Weighable silver comprises a card case and cigarette case which weighs 74g approx.
A silver-plated cased oversized pocket watch, the circular enamelled dial with Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds dial inscribed "Mackay & Chisolm Edinburgh", housed in a silver mounted travelling case (by William Comyns, London 1907) CONDITION REPORTS The watch that is currently in the case does not fit properly. The loop is too big and sticks out the top of the case which has caused some damage. Silver case has some knocks and pitting conducive to age and use. Leather is work and the hook to the back has been crudely repaired. The interior is worn, balding, dusty and appears to have remains of clearning fluid on it. The watch itself has a back which does not close correctly. All items have general wear and tear conducive with age and use to include surface scratching etc. See images for more details.

A pair of George III silver open salts of oval form, raised on stepped oval feet (by John Wakelin & Robert Garrard, London 1800) 7.85 oz CONDITION REPORTS The guilt wash interior in both items is rubbed. There are scratch marks and pitting in both. Pitting to the outside is also evident conducive with age and use. See images for more details.
A Chinese clear cut rock crystal dressing table bottle of slab cut baluster form with ring handles and scrolling decoration to the cover, the interior painted with bearded man with young boy feeding geese and verso bearded man and young boy with lantern and script, raised on a bracket foot base, together with silver strung hardwood stand CONDITION REPORTS There is a flaw to the crystal on the side without the writing, at the top edge, and the base is glued onto the main body. There is wear and tear conducive with age and use, together with areas of dirt, some small chips to the inside rims, surface scratches, and internal flaw to the main body to the side with the script just above the waist. The wooden base has general wear and tear, and is fairly modern. 15cm high overall.
