The (Wynn) Griffiths of Llanfairisgaer were extensive landowners in Anglesey Caernarvon and Merioneth. Members oftimes filled the post of Sheriff (the earliest recorded being that in Anglesey 1395/61) and Receiver General (of the Royal Rents) for North Wales (at various times from 1631 onwards). A collection of family papers rent rolls etc from the 16th century onwards is held in the National Library of Wales
