George VI Canadian Memorial Cross. This silver example is awarded to commemorate "121532 SGT C.H. SLATER". Stamped Sterling and maker's mark of "R" indicating Roden Brothers of Toronto. Housed in an official box complete with full length ribbon. 121532 Sergeant Cecil Hubert Slater enlisted with the 69th Bn CEF for England on the 17th April 1916. He was reported wounded on the 7th September 1917, whilst attached to the Canadian Machine Gun Corps. Westmoreland & Cumberland Yeomanry Cavalry Victorian Officer's shabraque or horse saddle cloth. A fine and scarce example from the latter half of the 19th century. Dark blue cloth with pointed ends edged with red cloth backed silver lace of regimental pattern. The front quarters with large silver bullion WCYC cypher surmounted by a large gold embroidered Crown; the hind quarters are of similar design with the addition of an oakleaf spray below and a star below the spray. One or two small patches of moth, overall service wear with one or two stitching faults, bullion and lace fresh.
