German Third Reich Spanish Cross with Swords in silver by Junker, Berlin. A fine scarce example of the breast badge awarded to combatants, mainly of the Luftwaffe Legion Condor. Reverse with hinged flat tapered pin and stout securing hook and stamped CEJ in rectangle over 800. Very minor service wear. VGC Instituted 14th April 1939 by Hitler to reward those members of the Wehrmacht who served with distinction in the Spanish Civil War in support of General Franco.
German Third Reich Government Officials dagger Eickhorn, Solingen circa 1939-42. A fine rare example with simulated mother of pearl grip and silver plated mounts. Eagle head ornamented pommel, crossguard and langet bearing an eagle and swastika facing same way as pommel. Plain polished double-edged blade etched with maker squirrel logo. Housed in its finely pebbled plated scabbard with fine oakleaf bands supporting both loose suspension rings. VGC Introduced in March 1939; production ceased in mid 1942.
Irish Longford Light Infantry Militia Victorian helmet plate circa 1878-81 Good rare die-stamped white metal crowned Maltese cross mounted with LONGFORD RIFLES circlet and applied silver Prince of Wales plumes, silver strung bugle mounted on lower arm. Three loops, top one AF. Crown bent. GX Raised in 1793 at Newtown Forbes as Prince of Wales Royal Longford Militia; redesignated Rifles in 1854 and as Light Infantry in 1855; became 6th Bn. Irish Westmeath Rifles Militia Victorian Officer glengarry badge circa 1874-81. Fine very scarce unmarked hollow silver voided crowned curled bugle horn with shamrock to voided centre, all resting on straight tri-part Gaelic scroll. Three loops. VGC Raised in 1793 at Mullingar as Westmeath Militia, redesignated Westmeath Rifles in 1855 and became 9th Bn. Rifle Brigade on 1st July 1881. Gordon Cummings Collection.

Good rare gilt crowned star mounted with silver VITA VERITAS VICTORIA circlet resting in silver laurel sprays; the worn velvet centre bearing silvered skeleton atop a mountain between two castles. Three loops. GC Raised as Londonderry Militia in 1793, redesigned Londonderry Light Infantry in 1855. Became 4th Bn. of Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers 1st July 1881, in May 1882 converted to Artillery as 9th Bde. North Irish Division. Gordon Cummings Collection.
Irish Wexford Militia Victorian Officer shako plate circa 1855-61. A fine and rare die-stamped gilt crowned star mounted with silver circlet WEXFORD MILITIA XCIX; mounted on the gilt domed centre, a silver Maid of Erin Harp. Two horizonal loops to reverse. VGCUnit had the distinction of being the first regiment to mount guard on Dublin Castle carrying the Union flag. Became 4th Battalion Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers in 1881. Raised in 1793 at Wexford, became 3rd Bn. Royal Irish Regiment 31st July 1881, disbanded 1908. XCIX refers to its militia precedence number. Gordon Cummings Collection.
