DAVID BOWIE - THE MAN WHO SOLD THE WORLD LP (OG UK 'DRESS SLEEVE' COPY - 'TONNY' - MERCURY 6338 041). Fantastic to see, very first UK pressing of the iconic 1971 LP from David Bowie. This copy features the controversial and quickly withdrawn 'dress' sleeve and contains the misspelling of Tony Visconti on the labels showing 'Tonny' on both sides. The record is in smart Ex condition, each side displays some inner sleeve transfer ripples, none of which affected playback from a quick sample test. Black/ silver text labels are bright and clean with only minor spindle wear around the centre holes. Matrix/runout: 6338041 1Y//1 ∇ 420 1 1 3 & 2Y//1 ∇ 420 1 1 1. The iconic original textured 'dress' sleeve is in great Ex condition. A lovely clean example displaying only minor age-related edge storage wear. Covers are bright and clean with almost no signs of the commonly seen ring wear. A great example.

Lot 6

THE ROLLING STONES - 'LET IT BLEED' - ORIGINAL UK APPLE ACETATE RECORDING. Unprecedented to see original UK 8-track acetate LP recording from The Rolling Stones, this recording from 1969 a 'working title' for Let It Bleed. This acetate provides a fascinating insight into the Stones history in that it contains the tracks 'Sister Morphine' and 'Loving Cup'; these would not be commercially released until 1971 and 1972 on the albums 'Sticky Fingers' and 'Exile On Main St.' respectively. The track 'Loving Cup' is significantly different to the commercial release; the piano arrangement being the most notable which is far more decorative here than that was later released. The remainder of the tracks appear to be the same versions as to those commercially released, though the mix here is clearly not the 'final' version (some guitar sections are less prominent, the backing vocals at times further back in the mix). With printed paper Apple Custom Recording labels, the track listing as follows. Side One: Midnight Rambler, Love In Vain, Let It Bleed, Monkey Man. Side Two: Give Me Some Shelter (noting the track title was later amended to 'Gimmie Shelter'), You Got Some Silver Now (noting the track title was later amended to 'You Got The Silver'), Sister Morphine and Loving Cup. The record is in VG condition - there are some surface marks to the playing surfaces with the acetate slightly 'faded' though there is no real deterioration to the aluminium lacquer. There is a slight 'chip' on the run-in on a small section, though this is certainly not of a larger nature. The recording plays well throughout with a few small skips. The paper labels are in clean order, 'M' in white ink next to the 'R' in Rolling Stones, and a name (Lynne Westerman) in pen on the side 2 label. Surely a must-have for any dedicated Stones fan.

Lot 63

This UK-supplied, right-hand drive Quattro WR has remained on a family farm for 39 years and is on offer at No Reserve. This 2,144cc in-line, five-cylinder, 10-valve Audi Quattro WR was purchased brand new in 1984 by a local farmer from Testwood Motors of Southampton. It was finished in Zermatt Silver with a Brazil cloth interior and was fitted from new with a sunroof and a Blaupunkt Atlanta radio/cassette. In 1995 (the final Tax Disc expired on 30th November 1995), he passed it down to his son at 139,000 miles but he chose never to drive it, storing it in a corner of a barn until recently. The storage area didn't let in much daylight and the car appears to be in remarkably original condition under the dust, the interior in particular benefitting from being kept in favourable light conditions. It's supplied with its original wider alloys on original Pirelli P7Rs which are uncracked due to the dark storage, three keys and the history file containing numerous MOTs, invoices, drivers manuals etc.On offer at No Reserve, this remarkable barn-find Quattro appears in good shape and would be great fun to recommission and detail prior to returning to the road.Specification Make: AUDI Model: QUATTRO Year: 1984 Chassis Number: WAUZZZ85ZEA900967 Registration Number: A288 0H0 Transmission: Manual Engine Number: WR005163 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Make: RHDClick here for more details and images

Lot 124

The 300 marked a post-war return to Mercedes-Benz tradition of building high-performance, luxury automobiles of the highest quality. Daimler-Benz AG emerged from the smoking rubble of World War II in somewhat precarious health, with production plants that had been pretty comprehensively levelled by Allied bombing. Far from being a broken nation, the resilience of the workforce was remarkable, and Mercedes-Benz resumed car production in 1946, albeit with the pre-war 170V, a modest middle-class car that had been their best-seller in the 1930s. However, in less than six years, the company was sufficiently confident to return to the luxury market when the Mercedes 300 was introduced at the 1951 Frankfurt Motor Show, and for the duration of the 1950s, Mercedes-Benz prestige line-up was based on the 300 range, at the heart of which was essentially the same superb 2,996cc overhead-camshaft six-cylinder engine found in the legendary 300SL 'Gullwing'. The 300 Saloon was aimed squarely at Captains of Industry and Heads of State - indeed, the model was nicknamed 'Adenauer' after Konrad Adenauer, the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. In office from 1949 to 1963, he employed six custom convertible, hardtop, and landaulet versions during his tenure. Inside, the 300 was beautifully executed in polished wood, with deep bucket seats trimmed in either cloth or leather, and a division was available as an option for those who preferred to be chauffeur driven. Improvements came with the 300B of 1954 in the form of twin Solex carburettors, along with servo-assisted brakes and minor styling changes, while the 300C model of September 1955 saw the option of a Borg-Warner 3-speed automatic for the American market. Introduced in August 1957, the 300D was the linear successor to the 300C, with a longer wheelbase, fuel injection, and unique hardtop configuration transforming it into a pillarless 'Phaeton'. An additional 4" of wheelbase provided greater rear legroom, equalling that of the long wheelbase Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud. Removable rear quarter-lights allowed an unobstructed view in and out from the front vent window all the way to the back, much valued in the model's popular role as a 'parade car'. Employing a slightly detuned version of the 300 SL sports cars Bosch fuel-injected engine, the 300D produced 180bhp at 5,500rpm. Automatic transmission was standard and power brakes, power steering, and Artic-Kar air-conditioning were added as options.Offered here is a truly magnificent 1959 Mercedes-Benz (W189) 300D, delivered new in right-hand drive to Australia. Presented in Schwartz/black paintwork with a remarkably well-preserved luxurious Crimson leather interior. This particular 'Adenauer' has benefitted from the warm, dry Australian climate.
