A silver plated Corinthian column table lamp, on square stepped base. Height to light fitting 43 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The height of the column from the bottom of the base to top of the capital is 37 cm. There is a further 7 cm from the top of the capital to the top edge of the light fitting itself.
A pair of Scottish Dumfries silver sugar tongs, with coiled anchor and unicorn marks, maker D.G., probably David Grey active 1810-41. CONDITION REPORT: The tongs are in generally good order with no significant damage to the bowls. The spring action still operates. The hallmarks are generally clear although one is a little rubbed.
A George III Newcastle silver caddy spoon, maker probably Thomas Watson. CONDITION REPORT: The spoon is in generally good order with only one minor issue. There is a small +/- 4 mm stress fracture to the bowl on the right hand side as you look at our image where the bowl indents at the bottom edge of the shoulder. There is slight movement at this point when flexed. The hallmarks are slightly rubbed but all legible. There is no significant wear or any buckling to the piece.
A silver mounted cut glass scent bottle, 1899, height 11 cm, and a silver topped cut glass dressing table jar, Chester 1903. CONDITION REPORT: The scent bottle top is dented and has clearly been dropped. This may push out, it is however very evident. The hinge is also broken. The silver mount is in good order. There do not appear to be any chips to the glass body. There is no stopper. The accompanying jar has two rubbed through holes to the top. The glass base is however in good order.
A pair of silver salad servers Birmingham 1900, maker probably Henry Bourne. 118 grams. CONDITION REPORT: The fork is in generally good order with no issues. The spoon has slight creasing just below where the back of the bowl joins the handle. This Is minor but visible on inspection. There is also one small dent to the bowl. The hallmarks are very clear. There is no rubbing.
A late Victorian wooden cased silver plated extensive tea service, by Mappin Brothers Regent Street and London Bridge, and comprising large oval tray, circular waiter, small circular waiter, spirit kettle and stand, teapot, tea kettle stand, sugar basin and cream jug (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The width of the large oval tray including the handles is 70 cm. Excluding handles 55 cm. The width is 42.7 cm. The circular tray has a diameter of 35 cm. The small circular waiter has a diameter of 20.5 cm. The packing case dimensions are height 47 cm, width 73.5 cm, depth 32.5 cm. The large tray is in generally very good order with only very minor rubbing to the plating. The oval tray has more significant losses to the plated finish particularly around the centre. There is also some discolouration to the rear of the tray. The large kettle again has some losses to the plating (10%) particularly around the lid. The small waiter has +/- 50% of the plating missing on the top surface. The small teapot is in generally good order with a couple of minor dents. The coffee pot is in generally good order. The sugar basin and cream jug are also in generally good condition. The spirit burner is in generally good condition and has clearly seen little use.
