The slightly larger oval example has general surface wear and the grill hinge is broken. The base metal example has general wear throughout.

The square vesta case with a few slight knocks at the edge and general light patina but essentially ok. The Chester vesta case is rubbed throghout and with a few small knocks at the edge, the hinge to the lid is weak and does not close with a snap.

It is a little sprung. The embossed case has a circular applied roundel to one of the cartouches but this is not original, otherwise general surface wear and a small split to the base.

It is slightly compressed to the body. The hinged example is sprung to both front and back and the action does not close correctly, a rather tired example. The Japanesque example has some surface rubbing with the gilding coming away in parts.

A late Victorian hallmarked silver card case of slightly convex rounded rectangular form with the engraved initials AY to the cover, Chester 1899, a similar engraved example, Birmingham 1926, a hinged hallmarked silver case with central divider and a hallmarked silver matchbook case, combined approx 5.89ozt/183.3g (4).Additional InformationThe case with AY initials, closes well, has a couple of small dents but overall in good order. The engraved curved example is slightly sprung, has a vacant panel but is a little bit more tired. The example with central divider has had an inscription erased from the shield shaped plaque but the action closes. The small matchbox cover has light surface wear, slightly sprung but otherwise ok.

There are light surface scratches to the enamel throughout, but no damages. The comb has lost some of its prongs, light surface scratches to the other pieces. Tarnishing to the glass and silver mounted jar, but this is complete with stopper.
