Charming and Well Made Victorian Scottish Basket Hilt Broadsword Built for a Child, double edge ‘claymore’ blade etched PILLIN MAKER GERRARD ST SOHO LONDON and cut with a pair of fullers, etched with bunches of thistles and blue bells amidst scrolling foliage, German silver basket hilt of traditional form, pierced with heart-shaped openings, thistle-shaped pommel, retaining its original buckskin lining faced with red cloth and with purple tassels, wire bound fish skin covered grip, in its leather scabbard with border engraved German silver mounts, twin suspension rings, ball finialled chape, the locket pierced for a screw (see below). Blade 44cms, overall 55cms. Good condition and age patina. George and Alfred Pillin are recorded working at 31, Gerrard Street, Soho, London 1862-1880. The screw (missing) was inserted into the locket whenever required for the avoidance of ‘juvenile mischief’

Blade 84cms, overall 98cms. Good condition, a little wear to plating.

Barrels 71cms, overall 113cms. Good condition and retaining most original finish overall.
Bhutanese Helmet Possibly 18th or 19th Century, with large iron bowl raised from a single plate and fitted with a nickel brow piece engraved with a lotus flower amidst scrolls and with a row of flower heads; subsequently ‘improved’ with added silver mounts and ear pieces set with red and green cabochon pastes (?) including plume holder and a border of lapets. Good condition.

20-Bore Double Barrelled Flintlock Sporting Gun by D. Egg, late 18th Century, browned twist barrels signed D.EGG. LONDON in gold with gold lined pans and with a pair of gold inlaid breech lines, silver lined vents, stepped signed locks, ramped roller frizzens, engraved iron furniture, grip with Egg chequering and carved with typical flower in relief behind barrel tang, later horn tipped wooden ramrod. Barrels 85.5cms. Good condition, some age wear and expertly reconverted from percussion.
16-Bore Percussion Sporting Gun by D. Egg, Late 18th Century, drum converted from flintlock, half octagonal twist barrel with EGG LONDON crowned gold poincon, inlaid breech line, signed stepped lock with elaborate dolphin hammer, engraved iron mounts, Egg chequered grip carved with typical flower in relief, silver escutcheon engraved with owner’s crest and initials RB, later brass tipped wooden ramrod. Barrel 91cms. Good condition, some light pitting and age wear to furniture.

Blade 18cms, overall 29cms. Good condition, cleaned overall, minor damage to one grip

Blade 20cms, overall 29.5cms. Good condition, some age wear, koftgari to chape and back of locket mostly missing.

Composite Indian Axe, 19th Century, iron head in the form of a tiger from which issues a broad curved single edge blade terminating in an antelope’s head and decorated overall with gold koftgari work including Islamic inscriptions, tiger stripes and geometric decoration, mounted at the time on an earlier 7 stage iron haft covered with silver foil koftgari. Head 18cms (maximum) overall 66cms. Good condition, koftgari worn overall, tiger’s tail missing.
Fine and Scarce North Indian Saddle, Probably Late 19th or Early 20th Century, covered with brown leather elaborately decorated with silver bullion embroidery in flowering foliate designs, edges with soft green leather binding, prominent silver pommel embossed as a buckle-shaped device and engraved overall with flowering foliage and chevrons, leather straps with brass buckles. Length 53cms, height 333cms. Good condition.
