An elegant Malacca walking stick bearing a sterling silver plaque which reads: "Presented to Harry Lauder, from the daughters of Caledonia and Caledonian Club, Dallas, Texas, Jan 7 1918." Lauder(1870-1950) who made in his time up to six storming tours of America, I believe, is probably Scotland`s most successful musical/comedy star. He appeard later to have used the stick regularly. When presented with it, he was still ordinary Mr Lauder until knighted, for his services to WW1 troop entertainment, in 1919.
