A rare Indian Army officer's gilt 1844 (Albert) pattern shako plate of the 44th Infantry, in the centre the numerals XLIV on a Mother of Pearl backing within a circle inscribed "Auspicio Regis et Senatus Angliae" and a wreath of laurel and palm leaves, all on a 10 pointed star, the top ray replaced by the crown, with a silver plated inset between the wreath and backplate; see Sale 477 Lot 876 for companion shoulder belt plate.
