A Sevres double-handled cup and saucer circa 1790 goblet cornet painted with a light-blue oeil de perdrix ground reserved with two gilt edged oval medallions enclosing scenes of birds in landscapes the ground continuing over the inside of the rim of the cup edged with a gilt scrolling band the saucer with three medallions interlaced double L's in blue incised 41 and 31 cup 115cm. 4.5in. flat chip to outside rim of saucer (2) The model for this cup was created by Jean-Jacques Lagrenee for the Rambouillet Dairy Service for Queen Marie-Antoinette in 1787.

The principal part of the general text is based on Gould's Monograph of the Ramphastidae, 1833-35, but a considerable portion of the matter is re-written or revised and there are additional species described for the first time. Some of the plates are re-drawn or reduced from Gould, some are altered or designed afresh and the illustrations of the new species are entirely new. (1)
