A rare Paul Ysart ‘Grecian Head’ sulphide portrait glass paperweight, ‘PY’ cane, the sulphide plaque of a lady with ‘P. Ysart’ signature to the reverse, 8cm diameter, together with a glass cameo effect brooch from which Ysart copied the sulphide, 4.5cm Provenance - bought from Sweet Briar Gallery 23/11/95, who in turn bought from a collector who had them straight from Paul Ysart.Light graze to footrim; further light surface scratches to underside and a tiny circular, dark indentation; two tiny inset air bubbles; top surface with approx. eight tiny ‘pin-pricks’, visible only with a magnifying glass. Glass cameo one of the rosettes in her hair grazed; crude plasticine repair to gilt-metal frame, as shown.
A Victorian calamander writing slope, 40.5cm wide, 24cm deep, 13cm high, together with a French rosewood box, 31cm wide, 24cm deep, 7cm highCalamander writing box generally good; old vertical scratch to top, approx. 13cm; other light surface scratches; leathers renewed; latch to secure folding slope not connecting, so not locking into place; one leather finger-pull incomplete. Retailed by Lund’s, 23/24 Fleet Street. Box has two ivory knob handles and needs CITES.
An early Victorian mahogany cased artist’s box by Brodie & Middleton,Top with light surface scratches; paints appear unused, one (top-left) chipped and incomplete; three white ceramic mixing dishes beneath the paints tray; circular glass dish is pressed, not cut; two white ceramic palettes enclosed within lower drawer, one of which is glue-repaired. No key to box. Dated 1840.

An 18th century black glass mallet form bottle with neck rim, 17cm and an 18th century Persian green glass flask, 27cm Dark bottle - has a splinter chip to the upper rim. ‘RP’ scratched to the body. Rough area to the neck exterior is an imperfection in the manufacture. No other cracks found, bright light used and two valuers inspected.Other bottle - no chips or cracks found.Both have several scuffs/scratches as expected and typical minor flaws in the manufacture.
Seven Staffordshire flat backs, including a gentleman on horse back, two seated lovers, a similar pair of King Charles Spaniels, and a pair of Staffordshire style cats, tallest 32cmSeated lovers female’s right hand glue re-attached; flakes to enamels. Spaniels crazed and wear to gilding. The cats are modern, one plinth scratched. Standing cellist his pink left arm chipped and incomplete. Dancing pair of children cracked. Small group with green-jacket drummer several flakes to enamels. Tall arbour group crack around standing male’s throat, crazed, numerous flakes to enamels. Others structurally good although with light crazing, wear to gilding.
