A pair of Victorian mahogany Pembroke tables, on octagonal baluster columns, concave sided platform bases and paw feet, 106 cm wide (2) Condition report Report by GH The first thing that is evident is that one of the tables has suffered much worse sun fading than the other. To start with the more faded of the two tables, the rounded leaf on one side is more faded than the squared off leaf on the other side and there are light scratches and marks across the surface of the table commensurate with age. The surface of the table appears to lie flat and doesn't appear to be warped. Moving down the friezes at either end of the table are in good condition and the drawer at one end has all cock beading intact, with minor chips and scratches. Moving down to the base the column is in good condition and the leg support has suffered some sun fading, cracks and chips to the veneer around the bottom frieze. The feet are damaged in places, with one being split across the ankle and various chips, scratches and gouges, but they are generally in good condition and all appear to be original and unrepaired. The casters underneath the feet are all present and appear to be all the same. The other table The squared off leaf on one side has suffered virtually no sun fading while the top surface has suffered a moderate amount and the rounded off leaf has suffered rather a lot of sun fading and therefore is a different shade altogether. The surface of the table is lightly scratched commensurate with age and use. Moving down to the frieze with the drawer, the left hand cock beading on the drawer is missing and there appears to be a repair to the veneer to the left of the drawer. There is also a small chip to the cock beading on the bottom right end of the drawer and various dents and chips to the cock beading at the bottom of the frieze. The handle appears to be original. The opposite frieze appears to be in good condition with only light scratching and denting. Moving down to the column, this appears to be in good condition with only light scratching. The base has suffered from a small amount of uneven sun fading. The hairy paw feet have suffered a small amount of light damage in places with one missing small toe on one of the feet and dents, scratches and gouges commensurate with age and use. There are also small splits and damages to some of the veneer on the base. Once again all four casters are present and appear to match. It should be noted that both of these tables unfold and push together to become one larger dining table. There may or may not have originally been an extra leaf. Both brass clips that connect both halves of the table are present.

Los 602

A George III style serpentine front serving table, on leaf carved cabriole legs with claw and ball feet, 122 cm wide See illustration Condition report Report by GH The top surface of the piece is heavily scratched with both new and old scratches, dents, gouges and some loss to the varnish. The frieze is in much better condition with some scratching and denting to the veneer. The pullout frieze drawer has some evidence of light water staining and denting at the top. It is structurally good. Both the front and rear cabriole legs are carved and are in reasonably good condition. The carving is quite crisp and although there is some loss to polish at the extremities it is generally good. There are some scratches and dents, particularly down towards the feet, probably from vacuum cleaning etc. Structurally the piece is very solid and all of the legs appear to be solid with no loose joints.
