'Lilac' a James Macintyre Hesperian ware vase designed by William Moorcroft, tubeline decorated with flower sprays in blue on a pale blue ground, highlighted with a light red printed marks, facsimile green signature, minor hairline to top rim 28 cm. high This vase carries the unusual printed Hesperian mark for the retailers Osler, London.
An early 20thC German gilt brass clock garniture, of eight day movement striking on a bell, the cartouche dial with Roman numerals, with a porcelain brass surmount painted with a romancing couple, similar panel below dial in an ornate cast case, together with a pair of four light candelabra, one branch detached, the clock 52 cm high.
Honolulu (Shoulder Variant) - A Clarice Cliff daffodil shape part dinner service circa 1933 comprising two large tureens and covers, one small tureen, cover and ladle, three graduated meat plates, six dinner plates, four desert plates, five side plates all decorated with a shoulder panel of a stylised tree within graduated ochre and lime green banding. Condition - One large and one small tureen as found, two plates chipped and others with light crazing.
Original Bizarre / Early Whisper Variant - A large Clarice Cliff shouldered ovoid vase circa 1929 hand decorated with a deep band of abstract panels between dark blue, black, green and orange banding, large Bizarre mark, height 25cm. Condition - No chips, cracks or restoration, light crazing and oxidisation to the dark blue. [Original Bizarre 1928-1929. This is an example of the transitional period of Original Bizarre showing striking similarities to the 1928-9 patterns Winsome and Whisper - repeating panels of a geometric design. The old Wilkinson vase was a very early one, referred to on shape sheets as a number ‘4’ (12 inch), ’4.1/2’ (10 inch) or ‘5’ (8 inch). PT].
Crepe de Chine (Green) - A Clarice Cliff conical six place coffee set circa 1932 transfer printed with stylised blooms and foliage picked out in tonal green and yellow over a pale celadon ground with green cafe au lait decorated handles, printed "Crepe de Chine" with bizarre mark. Condition - Three small chips to the inside rim of the coffee pot, no cracks or restoration, some minor light crazing. [This pattern was created with the traditional Staffordshire Potteries ‘print and enamel’ method. A printed outline transfer was added to the ware, and the all-over pattern outline was then hand painted in green and yellow enamels. This more traditional way of decorating ware was used at this time by Shelley Potteries, Wedgwood and others, and for many of the Biarritz tableware patterns by Clarice. This pattern dates from 1933, is spelt ‘Crepe de Chene’ on backstamps, and was also produced in a blue dominant colourway. LG]

Inspiration Lily - A Clarice Cliff Isis vase circa 1929/30 hand painted with large stylised blooms and foliage in pink, ochre and navy blue over a tonal turquoise ground, hand painted "Inspiration" and Bizarre mark, height 24cm. Condition - No chips, cracks or restoration, light crazing. [This high-fired art pottery used metallic oxide glaze colours painted on biscuit ware. An extensive range of patterns was produced from 1929-31 in this unique, highly demanding turquoise and purple glaze; it was the most expensive range of ‘art pottery’ Clarice Cliff ever produced. DM]
Blue Firs - A Clarice Cliff dish form circular plate circa 1934 hand decorated with a coastal hillside scene in tonal green and blue with graduated blue, red and black banding, Bizarre mark, width 23cm. Condition - No chips, cracks or restoration, minor paint scratches, light wear and staining.
Rhodanthe - A large Clarice Cliff shape 613 footed trumpet vase of ribbed form circa 1934 hand decorated with a stylised tree landscape in tonal brown and orange with an internal Delecia style tonal brown streaked brown and yellow decoration, Bizarre mark, height 47.5cm. Condition - No chips, cracks or restoration, light crazing.
