The insides of the cylinders are of similar condition to the bore. The action works correctly with good timing and lock up. The finish has light scuffs, marks and fine scratches. The wood grips have dents and scratches but no cracks or repairs.

Buyer must be over the age of 18, age verification will be required if the lot is to be posted out.114cm long There is a very strange perfect ring mark around a quarter of the way down the bore (from the muzzle) which does not look like pitting and almost looks machined but I cannot see why. (see image uploaded) Outside of this the bore of this rifle is generally good with some light surface corrosion towards the muzzle. The front sight is a modern replacement and the rear sight might have been changed too. The tang has been adapted to take a peep sight. There is a fair amount of pitting around the nipple area. The barrel exterior has some scuffs, marks, and minor corrosion spots. The nipple has been replaced. The action works correctly with a strong spring. The ramrod is a replacement. The stock has some scruffs and marks, there is a filled area and a split around the lock but outside this no splits or repairs.

There is a short split on the upper tang.

There is also an 8mm split to the top of the butt emanating from the point of the butt plate.Gun 2The barrels ring when tapped, there is however the sound of a bead of solder rattling up and down the inside of the barrel join when they are tipped up and down.There are no dents visible, however there is possible rivelling or dents removed.The barrels are in proof and measure at: .732 right and .732 left against a proof stamp of .729The walls measure a minimum of .22 right and .23 leftThe bores are clean and free from pitting. There is a small mark around the mid point of the left tube on the inside area of the wall.The blacking to the barrels is in good order with only slight wear to breech and muzzle.The barrels are on face and tight on the action with only the very slightest wobble with the forend removed.The actions function correctly with snap caps.The stock is free from splits or repairs, there are some scratches and dents from use but nothing defacing. The chequering is quite worn and flat in profile. There is a distinct cast off to the stock.CaseThe case is worn and tired showing signs of a long working life with plenty of scuffs scratches and marks. It is reasonable sound in construction with only small separations to the corners below the brass. One belt is missing, the one which is present is probably a replacement. The inside has small amounts of moth damage, there is wear to the lining and quite a few oil stains and marks. All the separations are still attached but some are looser than they should be. The lock is missing its escutcheon, there is no key.

Some of the polished steel parts were once varnished and have a light brown patina. The bore has some pitting but would improve with polishing. The barrel finish is showing signs of wear to high points and edges. There is pitting patches but no dents. The action cocks and releases with a strong spring.The butt plate has some pitting.The stock is free from splits or cracks, there are quite a few small dents, scratches oil stains and marks. There is a chipped away of wood missing from the the thinnest part of the barrel channel wood where it meets the breech on the reverse lock side. The chequering has been expertly refreshed and has a slightly sharper feel than you would expect for a gun in this condition. Some screw heads show signs of being worked. The forward ramrod pipe has been reattached.

Co. stamp above numeral II, the reverse side stamped with further London Small Arms stamps and 1910 date and C.L.L.E. fitted with original volley sights, the wrist stamped with later owner name J. Cambell, Birmingham Nitro proofs, serial number 9262B, the bolt numbered 13747. UK FIREARMS LICENCE WITH .303 VARIATION OR RFD REQUIRED .125cm long The rifle shows signs of age with a dark patina. The bore has a strong rifling pattern through most of the tube but does have worn rifling around the throat just ahead of the chamber. The metal finish outside of the rifle is of worn and fading bluing with some light speckled pitting and surface corrosion. The magazine is more corroded and pitted than the rest of the rifle. The VR stamping is lighter than would be expected indicating a refinish, perhaps at the time of conversion. The Action works correctly, the bolt face has some wear to it and some light surface dents around the primer area. The bolt has a different serial number to the rifle. The wood stock has lots of dents, scratches and marks, but no repairs or splits, there is a chip to the wood around the cleaning rod channel edge. The butt is a different colour and patina to the rest of the wood indicating it has been refinished or replaced.

The bore shows small signs of use but a good strong rifling pattern is present with just some small patches of frosting. The blued finish is showing signs of wear. There is some light surface speckling to the polished parts. The action cocks and releases with a strong spring. The wood stock is free from splits or repairs, there are however dents and scratches. Some screw heads show signs of being worked.
