CARVED FLORIFORM QINGBAI DISH SOUTHERN SONG TO YUAN DYNASTY 南宋至元 青白劃花六瓣花口碟decorated in the interior with stylised flora and foliage, mouth rim with six notches, applied overall with a thin and translucent pale green glaze save for the base revealing the light and dark brown body 15.2cm diameter Private Scottish collection, Scottish Borders. The owner had an enduring friendship with Dr Kenneth Lawley (1937-2023), a lifelong Asian art collector and a significant part of whose collection was sold in this saleroom, 3 November 2023, lot 1-95. Dr Lawley was close to the collection offered in this sale, indeed some of the items came directly from him. He would share his research, his catalogue, and his admiration of these items with the owner, as a natural consequence of their friendship. Acquired from David Bowden, 4 March 2006, according to owner's inventory. Comparable examples of caved Qingbai dishes, all dated to the Song dynasty, sold at Christie's New York,23 Jul 2014, lot 307; Paris, 29 Mar 2017, lot 92; and New York, 23 Sep 2022, lot 946.

Scrolled floral tripod arms below with curved banding holding matching glass rods & beading as shade. With circular matching inner tier. Measures approx. 60cm tall x 30cm in diameter.
Edward Pritchett (British, 1828-1864) - A Side Canal, Venice with Figures - a 19th century watercolour on paper painting. Unsigned. With original identification and authentication label to reverse. Framed in gilt wood frame. Measures approx. 25cm x 34cm. Edward Pritchett was a painter of Venetian scenes. He worked in both oils and watercolours and nearly all his pictures were of Venice, but he did paint occasional English views. Pritchett is now considered to be one of the finest painters of Venice of the Victorian era. His artistic imagination was inspired by the atmosphere and daily life of the city. His works are painted in a lively, fresh, often almost impressionistic manner and few artists have better captured the changing light effects and vivacity of the Venetian scene. He exhibited at the Royal Academy between 1828 and 1849, the British Institution and the Royal Society of British Artists. Pritchett's paintings are represented in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the Manchester Museum and Art Gallery and the National Gallery Dublin.

A French Continental 19th century wrought / cast iron & glass farmhouse lantern ceiling light. The light having a ring holder over a scrolled dome top with floral shaped finials to each corner. Faceted body below with curved hand etched glass panel to each side. Acanthus leaves detailing to base with further scrolled bands below, ending in decorative finial to base. Measures approx. 105cm long (without chain) x 45cm in diameter.
