Two silver and silver plate mounted glass whiskey noggin jugs. One with a silver hinged lid and silver Whisky label on a chain, the other with silver plated lid and handle and with ribbed glass bottle. Largest H10cm. Condition Report: All have some signs of wear including light scratches consistent with age and usage. The smaller jug has some rubbing to the silver plate and some knocks and irregularities to the metal. No obvious cracks or chips to the glass however it is uneven in places. Would benefit from a clean. No apparent alterations. The larger jug is generally in good condition. The lid is slightly loose and there are areas of tarnishing and irregularities to the silver. No obvious cracks, chips or restoration to the glass. Some scratches that would polish out. Would benefit from a clean.
A group of four 19th century blue and white English ceramics. Including a Morea Stone meat plate (48cm x 36cm) and three flow blue 'Willow' pattern dishes, diameter 25cm Condition Report: In mixed condition. All show signs of general wear including scratches and rubbing consistent with age and usage. Would all benefit from a clean. The platter has some crazing and light pitting. All of the small dishes have chips to the rim and pitting, one has a large hairline crack. Colours bright.
An early 20th century Mahjong set with five drawers. Fully fitted with bone and bamboo tiles and gaming pieces, with instruction booklet and four stands retailed by Hamleys. H16cm x W24cm x D17cm Condition Report: Box is structurally sound, front cover is missing, metal work to the box is tarnished, light scratches to the surface.
A pair of 20th century Chinese ceramic table lamp bases. Cylinder vases decorated with chickens raised on hardwood stands. H30cm Condition Report: Overall in good-very good condition. There is a very small hairline crack beside one of the chickens. The colours are bright, some signs of minor wear including rubbing and light scratches consistent with age and usage. The top and base of one of the vases is not fully secure. No obvious restoration.
A SMALL GILTWOOD AND ROYAL BLUE PAINTED SIX LIGHT CHANDELIER POSSIBLY BY LENYGON & MORANT, EARLY 20TH CENTURY 63cm high, 62cm wide For a comparable example of giltwood chandeliers by Lenygon & Morant Ltd. in the Royal Collection but with crown surmount and in two tiers, please see the three 12 light chandeliers in the Throne Room, Windsor Castle, presented to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth by The Hon. Sir Richard Molyneux, KCVO, 25 March 1939 (RCIN 35801).
GEORGE ARTHUR FRIPP (BRITISH 1813-1896) ITALIANATE LANDSCAPE WITH GOATHERDS Oil on board 29.5 x 39.5cm (11½ x 15½ in.) Provenance: Miles Wynn Cato, Cheltenham Condition Report: The board presents a slight layer of dirt with scattered stains, most noticeable in the upper edge. UV light reveals various dotted retouches in the foliage to the left and right border - most noticeably to the right edge there is a approximately 8 cm retouch which might conceal a previous superficial scratch. In addition, a few retouches are present around the figure at the centre. To conclude a few scratches are present, mostly near the borders. Condition Report Disclaimer
ÉTIENNE VILOTTE FOR CIBOURE POTTERY- A 'RED FIGURE' TWO-HANDLED VASE EARLY 20TH CENTURY Adapted as a lamp, with a frieze of dancing figures and musicians in the Attic manner, later insert lid with empty fitment for light, stamped factory mark 23.5cm high Condition Report: The domed cover with the screw aperture for the light fitting is turned and black-painted soft wood. The lower section of the vase, near the base has been drilled, suggesting it was later adapted to be a lamp base. Some areas of house fly excreta, scratches and minor wear. A PAIR OF GILT BRASS HALL OR PORCH PENDANT LANTERNS EARLY 20TH CENTURY Of hexagonal form, arched panels with opaque glass glazing 38cm high, 19cm wide Condition Report: These have no light or electrical fittings and will need adapting. (This should be relatively easy to achieve.) No damage/cracks found to the glass panels. The brass has a good level of patina and some corrosion so if an old country house look is desired this will work. Y A DUTCH MARQUETRY INLAID MAHOGANY DECANTER CASE CIRCA 1840 The hinged lid enclosing 4 parcel gilt glass bottles case 26cm high, 19cm wide, 19cm deep Together with a Victorian walnut and brass mounted casket, fitted for stationery, by Melliship & Harris, 22cm wide And a George IV rosewood work box, circa 1830, with velvet lined and fitted interior, 34cm wide Please note that Dreweatts have applied for a de minimus license; ref: 3BN7D2XH Condition Report: Dutch marquetry Box. No cracks or chips noted to the decanters and stoppers. Light wear to the gilding, stoppers very worn. Traces of previous liquids to the interiors which may or may not have damaged the glass. Lock is possibly not the original. Some marks, knocks, scratches etc. to the wood and chips to the corners, old damage around the lock and hinges. No lock key. Probably had feet, now lacking. Rosewood work box. Some signs of use, but no serious damage or repairs noted except the left handle which comes off. Interior worn. No key.Casket. AN UNUSUAL PAIR OF BRASS MOUNTED BLUED STEEL RIFLE BAYONET TABLE LAMPS FRANCO-PRUSSIAN, MID/LATE CENTURY AND LATER Each with cluster of six socket bayonets the scrolled over tips above blades, socket bases with musket balls above lion paw feet, each bearing a serial number, formerly with oil lamp reservoirs, now fitted for electricity bases 56cm high overall Repurposed armaments are unusual decorative items- more commonly found utilising 20th century elements. AFTER THE ANTIQUE- A MARBLE BASE FORMED AS EROS WITH THE DOLPHIN ORESTE VACCA PROBABLY NAPLES, LATE 19TH CENTURY Incised signature to base, set on associated oak base with table light support marble 39cm high, base 19.5 by 18cm Although the identity of the artist is as yet untraced, it would seem that this is a copy of the Roman 2nd Century AD Farnese Eros with the Dolphin in the National Archaeological Museum of Naples (inv. 6375).
