Great Britain/England, British HAMMERED GOLD COINS, Edward IV, first reign, Ryal or Rose Noble, 7.65g, London, pellet by shield, quatrefoil after FRANC, king armoured with sword and shield standing in ship sailing right, flag at stern, pellet below shield with quartered arms of England and France, ropes 3/1, rose on hull, rev rose on sunburst, floriated cross with lis at end of each limb, crowned lion in each angle, within tressure of eight arcs, small trefoils in spandrels, mm crown reverse only, with full legend spelt correctly (cf Schneider 365; N 1549; S 1951). Some light scratches in obverse field, otherwise good extremely fine and of the highest rarity.
