A WWI Memorial Plaque to Albert Stickley (1889-1915) (the wooden frame 15.5cm square).The son of Robert and Mary Stickley of Little Compton. He enlisted at Chipping Norton in 1912 and served in India with the 1st Batt. Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry (PTE. 9605). He died of wounds at sea aged 25 on the Indian hospital ship HMHS Varela on December 8th 1915 having been evacuated from the Battle of Cephiston. Buried at sea (the Persian Gulf) - Basra and Little Compton war memorials.
