GC (no scabbard, light surface rust to blade, grips slightly chipped); “Collecting the Edged Weapons of the Third Reich”, Volume I by Thomas M Johnson, privately published by the author, 1982, containing much useful information, (some written notes in text); also a good quality mahogany veneered deep table top glazed display case, 14” x 20”, with red velvet lining and key. A scarce sidearm in the style of an 1856 pattern sword bayonet, recurved blade 20½”, by Kratz, Solingen, iron crossguard and solid pommel, chequered composition grips secured by 5 small studs, in its steel mounted leather scabbard. GC (minor wear and light pitting to hilt and scabbard mounts). Plate 10
A 1796 pattern light cavalry trooper’s sword, curved, shallow fullered blade 32½”, with maker’s name “T. Craven” on backstrap and crown/4 inspectors stamps at forte, steel stirrup hilt with langets, plain pommel and backstrap with ears, wirebound leather grip, in its steel scabbard with 2 rings, the knucklebow and scabbard engraved en suite “K/54”. GC, a good example. Plate 10
A .380” long rifle Holland & Holland thumb underlever centre hammer boxlock Rook Rifle, number 4829, 45” overall, octagonal barrel 29” engraved “Holland & Holland, 98 New Bond St, London”, London proved and with two folding leaf rearsights, with scroll engraved frame and dark walnut stock with chequered fore end and wrist, the fore end secured by wedge. GWO & generally GC (the metalwork with rust patches overall, some light bruising to butt) Plate 12
A .577” Snider 3 band Volunteer rifle by Wilkinson, 55” overall, barrel 36½” with 3 groove rifling, London proofs and traces of “Wilkinson Patent” (?) in front of rearsight, the breech numbered “36”, the plain lock stamped “Wilkinson, London”, the walnut fullstock with regulation brass mounts and early type barrel bands. GWO & C (some wear overall with light pitting to barrel, the full length cleaning rod too long by about 1½”). Plate 12
20thC fine quality marquetry inlaid table, oval in shape, drawer at each end. Olivewood veneered panels. Marquetry inlay of household items to top and sides. Tapered legs crossbanded on all sides. Top measures 61 x 46 cm, height 73 cm. See final photo for some light scratches to left side of the top surface.
A novelty Art Deco Ronson Pik-A-Cig automaton cigarette dispenser. With enamelled cigarette box and surmounted by a cold painted spelter model of a crouching chimpanzee. With ebonized banding, gilt metal mounts and raised on reeded supports. 99cm wide, 88cm wide, 48cm deep. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Small piece of beading lacking from the under tier. Wax filled hole to the drawer front. Key lacking. Edge chips and light scratches to the marble. No breaks or repair to the marble.
A light oak cased twelve place canteen of silver plated cutlery makers H. Pidduck & Sons. With brass handles and three fitted drawers containing 104 pieces. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Knife steel and salt spoons lacking. No key. Some associated knives. Plating generally good with two tablespoons scratched and with wear.
An Art Nouveau mahogany salon armchair in the Mackintosh style. With marquetry inlaid openwork backrest formed as three stylized tulips. 106cm high, seat 42cm high. Arms 55.5cm wide and 69cm high. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Some light wear free from damage. Structurally sound.
