COPELAND: A VICTORIAN PARIAN BUST OF DAPHNEAfter Marshall Wood, circa 1880, on a socle base with impressed ‘Copeland’ mark to the underside, 57cm highThis design is illustrated in The Parian Phenomenon, A Survey of Victorian Parian Porcelain Statuary & Busts, edited by Paul Atterbury, published by Richard Dennis, fig.585, pg.180 with the description 'Daphne about to fall asleep, as the olive embraces her and she passes into the life of nature.'Condition report: Appearing to be in very good condition. No apparent or obvious repair or restoration. Some dirt, dust and wear, notably to the back and top of the head. Very minor slight hairline cracks to the odd area around the between the lotus leaves - - very minor and possibly a firing fault. Pencil mark to the back of the socle. Old glue attachment between the bust and socle is gradually wearing with a light gap appearing.

Tarnishing and discolouration to the gilding as expected, with small bruises to the shell liners. Nozzles are currently loose but this is likely due to construction in house.

Notably one of the covers to the porcelain urn finials is a lighter shade of turquoise, and possibly replaced. The screw threads to these urns are not quite long enough to take all the elements and two socles are loose and attached with the lot. Some tarnishing.

Others with small chips and scuffs. Some pendants do slightly vary and good be associated. Probably the upper half of the candelabra stem missing a glass mount. Metal lightly tarnished and worn. Lead weighted to the underside.

Campher wood blanket box, carved with Chinese scenes, tray slide to interior, label for Kam Wah Co, Hong Kong, width 102cm, depth 50cm, height 60cm.Condition report:Generally sound. Some surface scratches to the front, including two heavier scratches to the bottom border, and a light ring mark to the cover. No evident splits. The interior is clean, but obviously highly fragranced being camphor.
Continental mahogany and kingwood chest of drawers, Louis XV style, bombe form, with serpentine marble top, gilt metal appliques, width 99cm, depth 53cmm height 81cm.Condition report:Some small patch losses to the veneer, for instance on the bottom of the front apron, but in general it is in good condition. The top is clean and free of any chips or cracks. The chest itself is sound and free from any splits or substantial damages. Light staining to the drawer linings. The metal appliques are a little crude in the casting but that is down to the period of manufacture.
