An impressive Napoleon III French figural ormolu mantel clock- Lerolle Frères, circa 1875, the eight-day two train bell striking movement stamped LEROLLE F..., PARIS, 138, AH, to backplate, the case depicting Minerva depicted standing supporting a shield surmounted by her attendant owl, the shield incorporating the clock dial with enamel cartouche Roman numerals, the foliate decorated gadroon moulded base with reclining figure of Ceres or Fortuna and palmette apron panel flanked by scrolling feet, approximately 70.5cm high, 50cm wideA very similar clock numbered 92 was sold at Sotheby's New York, Lot 319, 22 October 2008 for £9,954 (inc. premium). The important firm of bronziers and sculptors Lerolle Freres was founded in 1836 when Louis Lerolle passed on the business to his two sons. They exhibited ornamental clocks, garnitures, chandeliers and candelabras, predominantly gilt-bronze or silvered, at most of the international exhibitions held during the second half of the 19th century including London 1851, New York 1853, and Paris 1855 (where the firm obtained a médaille de 1re classe). In 1862, Lerolle participated in the Exposition des Beaux Arts Appliqués à l'Industrie and the same year were manufacturing bronzes for the Maison S.A.I. le Prince Napoléon, and the l'Hôtel de la Commission Française. Condition Report: Movement is complete and in working condition although a clean/service is advised. The dial has noticeable hairline cracks to the V numeral and lesser not so noticeable cracks to the VII and VIII numerals otherwise appears free from significant damage. A late 19th century ormolu and white marble mantel clock, Raingo Freres, Paris, with eight-day bell striking movement with outside countwheel, the backplate stamped for the maker and serial numbered 3076, with white enamel Roman Numeral dial, the case surmounted by three cherubic figures, 48cm high overallCondition Report: movement is complete and in working condition although a clean/service is advised. The dial has a very light hairline crack and slight wear around the winding holes. The case has repairs to the right hand marble side projection as well as a filled crack to he marble just below the rear cover. The upper figure is lacking something from the hand which he is holding aloft. A French gilt brass 'Pendule d'Officier' mantel clock, mid 19th century, the eight-day two train bell striking movement with two-plane lever escapement incorporating curved rack and pinion regulation adjustment, the backplate stamped P.G. Brevete, the circular silvered Roman numeral dial with steel moon hands within milled surround incorporating regulation square at 12 o'clock set behind a hinged bevel-glazed bezel, the drum-shaped case with hinged foliate handle over repeating floral band to circumference over stepped skirt base with block feet, 21.5cm high Condition Report: The escapement is complete, intact and appears undamaged however will only beat when additional motive force is applied through the train hence will need a gentle clean and service before reliable running is likely to be achieved. the strike train is fully operational and the movement is generally in good clean condition. The backplate is further signed 'NICOLE A PARIS' and is numbered '40' behind the bell. The dial has slight tarnishing and some light surface scratching otherwise is in good original condition. The case is in good overall condition with only light wear to gilding; the rear door will not close firmly and the hinge although operational is missing the lower section of its knuckle.Clock unfortunately does not have a winding key.Condition Report Disclaimer

A large Continental cut glass ceiling light, second quarter 20th century, of quatrefoil outline, inset with pendants and swags overall, 116cm long, 86cm wideCondition Report: The metalwork is marked and scuffed overall and the lower framework, especially the thinner elements to the body, is bent in places. Some pendants are missing overall, and it is possible that some are replacements. Some of the beads have a slightly yellower colouring surrounding the metal wire in the interior. One or two of the bead swags are currently partially detached, however these can presumably be easily hooked back into place or repaired with wire/hooks.Sold as a decorative item, please have tested by a certified electrician prior to use.
