A group of medals relating to members of the Hopkinson family, a WWI trio named to Second Lieutenant F Hopkinson, Durham Light Infantry, Military Cross, possibly that of C.E Hopkinson five WWI Military cross and other miniatures, a neck badge of a Commander of the Order of the Bath, and The Most Eminent Order of the Indian Empire medal awarded to an A.J Hopkinson I.C.S dated 1938.Arthur J. Hopkinson (1894-1954) was also a Captain in the Durham Light Infantry and entered the Indian Civil Service in 1920 and advised on affairs relating to Tibet etc. (a quantity)

A fine prisoner-of-war ship model,c.1820, French, a forty-eight gun frigate of the Royal Navy, mounted on an oval, galleried, integral marquetry base, inlaid with bone, housed within the original mahogany display case,51cm wide42cm highProvenance: The Collection of Edward Croft-Murray CBE (1907-1980);purchased on 2 December 1908 from Lisle Court, Wootton, Isle of Wight for £4.12d shillings, subsequently listed in an inventory as 'Model of Frigate, in bone in glass case, made by French Prisoners of War at Porchester Castle about 1810'; thence at Perivale Ryde, Isle of Wight, listed in an inventory, 1926.Portchester Castle is a medieval fortress located in Portchester to the east of Fareham, Hampshire. It was used as a prison from the 17th century and, in the early 19th century, it housed over 7,000 French prisoners of the Napoleonic Wars. Condition ReportThe case 62cm wide, 26cm deep, 50cm high. A few very minor breaks to the rigging. Some light loss and wear to gilt and painted detail. One or two very tiny knocks to wooden gallery and parquetry detail, with minimal separation to joints. One or two ebony squares with tiny thin splits. Some dirt and dust. Some light fading of colour to base. Overall appears in very good cosmetic and structural condition for its age and fragility. Please see additional photos. General light cosmetic wear and knocks to case. Glass intact.

After H RogersThe desiccated corpse of a boy, about twelve years old, found in a vault under Saint Botolph's Aldgate old Church in 1742etching, signed in plate32.5 x 20.5cm;Lettering reads: This print is an exact representation of a boy about 12 years old who was found erect with his cloaths on in a vault under Saint Botolph's Aldgate Old Church in the year 1742, and is supposed to have been shut in at the time of the plague in London 1665, as the vault had not been open'd from that period till the time above mentioned when the church was pull'd down. The extraordinary circumstance of this boy is that his skin, fibres, & intestines are all dried & very little of his bones appears, and weighs about 18 pounds. He is in the possession of Mr. J. Rogers, No. 2 Maiden Lane Wood Street, London. Some small historic knocks, chips and losses throughout. A small divot a quarter of the way down, which has what appears to be contemporary decoration, therefore may be an original flaw in the wood. A split towards to the base. General light rubbing and wear to decoration. Dirt and patination. Owing to the intricacy of the decoration, the old damaged are not too apparent and do not detract from its appearance too greatly. Please see additional photos.
