In person viewing is highly recommended where possible.2068593 - Leather strap is dry, with a much deteriorated surface. Chips/scratches/paint losses to top plates and hinge. General surface dirt. Wear to barrels commensurate with use, worst towards the objective lenses. Eyepiece lenses appear free from any notable damage. One objective lens with spots of internal fungus; the other some scratching to the interior side.2073247 - Leather strap with much surface damage. Chips, scratches and paint losses to the top plates, hinges and eyepiece rings. Widespread wear/losses to the rough coating of the barrels. General surface dirt. A WW2 JAPANESE NAVAL OFFICER'S KAI GUNTO SWORD The shagreen grip with brown ito wrap, floral cast mounts throughout, the tsuba of plain disc form cast with sunburst pattern, gilt seppa beneath, the saya of plain black lacquer, the whole measuring approx. 99cm in length, the blade approx. 66cm Provenance: by family repute, surrendered by a Japanese officer to Commander Charles Harington Pollock DSC, possibly while on HMS Repulse. Thence by descent. See also lots 2610 and 2613. Condition Report:The saya is very well worn with multiple chips/losses to the lacquer and gouges near to the open end. The upper suspension ring mount is loose. The ito wrap is worn and discoloured through handling. The grip beneath has deteriorated and there are multiple losses to the surface. The blade is generally good, with light tarnish/finger marks throughout. Some small nicks to the back edge of the blade. Minor nicks to the cutting edge at the tip. Mounts are all heavily tarnished/worn through handling. Some amount of play to the tsuba.
ALEXANDER RITCHIE & ASSOCIATED JEWELS an Alexander Ritchie cross, stamped AR Iona, was owned by one of Iain McCormick's sisters, Agnes McDonald McCormick, inscribed verso, length 5.8cm. A silver St. Colomba's pillow and Prophecy pendant on a longship and knotwork detailed chain, length of pendant 3.8cm, length of chain 60cm, stamped D&S (in a heart shaped Cartouche) probably made by Darby & Sons, Birmingham 1953, and a smaller cross stamped Iona. Condition Report:Joining links on Columba's cross, & chain and link on small cross, not silver. Light general wear
A GENTS EMERALD & DIAMOND RING mounted in bright yellow metal, set with a 12mm x 10mm x 7.5mm oval cut glass bonded emerald and two 0.10ct diamonds, finger size Y, weight 16.5gms Condition Report:Shank at the back is between 1.1mm and 1.2mm, I think this is fine but its down to personal preference. Light medium wear, would benefit from a professional polish. Emerald has many internal natural inclusions, it will have had some treatment, probably glass bonding.

A 14K DIAMOND BRACELET the mount in 14k white gold, set with estimated approx 1.73cts of brilliant cut diamonds in illusion settings, length 17cm, weight 14.2gms Condition Report:I have estimated the diamond content, the certificate is wrong, there are 37 diamonds not 41, it is impossible due to the setting style to measure every diamond, so it is an estimate based on on ones I can measure between 0.03cts and 0.05cts. It is 6 3/4inches long not 7 1/2inches as stated on the certificate, it might have been shortened. Otherwise light general wear.

At this auction house if a piece of jewellery does not not have full UK hallmarks I have to say yellow metal, if in my opinion I think it is high carat I might say bright yellow metal, or describe what hallmarks it has so you can make your own mind up. We do not/and will not acid test every item, it is not good for my health and I might damage the jewellery, the item belongs to the vendor until it is sold, and not Great Western Auctions."

A FINE JAPANESE KATANA With ornately cast bronze mounts throughout featuring gilt dragons; the white shagreen grip with black ito wrap; the fullered blade measuring approx. 69.5cm overall and housed in a black lacquered saya, the butt end having an engraved white metal cap; the kogatana with inscribed blade; the whole measuring approx. 96cm in length, contained an embroidered silk protective sleeve Condition Report:"The closest smith for this item would be ""Nihon Kaji Sosho, Iga no kami Kanemichi (active mid Edo period).The above attribution is suggested by an independent specialist in Japanese art and antiques.Unfortunately, we have been unable to remove the grip to expose the tang. While we have removed the mekugi, the grip itself is stuck fast. In order not to risk any damage to the sword, we will not be making any further attempts to remove it.We recently uploaded additional images, showing inscriptions to kogatana.We believe the katana dates to circa-1900. The vendor's family had links with Japan around this time and it is believed the katana was acquired new, as a possible presentation piece. There is no documentary provenance to accompany this lot.The blade measures approx. 69cm in length, from tsuba to tip.The overall condition is very good. Please study additional images. There are multiple small chips to the lacquer of the saya. Kogatana blade somewhat corroded/rusted. Some amount of play in the tsuba and habaki. Some wear to ito wrap through handling. The blade is generally good, with light tarnish throughout. Some minor corrosion at tip, along back edge and near to habaki. One significant nick to back edge towards tip. Some very minor nicks to cutting edge. General light wear/patination to bronze mounts."
