Crockford, Somerset Light Infantry, C-Company 1st Battalion, Killed in Action on the first day of the Battle of the Somme, 1st July 1916. Named on Thiepval Memorial.

18th century English school - Bust portrait of a lady wearing a pearl necklace and jewelled silk dress, oil on oak panel, 38 x 30cm Condition Report / Extra Information Has been cleaned back.Paint good and stable.Some fine crazing but no breaking out.UV light shows some modest overpainting to left cheek, chin and neck.Some minor touching-in all over.We would suggest mid-18th century.Oak panel good.Annotated to frame.

A beautiful pair of Chinese framed silk work 'bird panels,' 19th Century Each on a pale ground detailed and intricately worked and embroidered wih swallow, set with inlaid mother of pearl and metalwork frames, 48cm x 59cm. CONDITION REPORT: 1st picture - light speckles foxing to teh right hand side and also within the branches. 2nd picture - Top left hand corner water damage 1.5" x 1.5" approx. Opposing bottom right hand corner, small patch of staining. Some minor discolouration and v light foxing to left hand side. One M-O-P flower head missing from frame.

A Ziegler Mahal design carpet, North Afghanistan, the terracotta field with an allover design of palmettes,flowers and scrolling vines enclosed by ivory borders of stylised plants, 425 by 306cmEnds and selvedges complete and original. The pile is close clipped and in good condition. There is one area (border) of light stain or colour run.
A Kurdish rug, North West Iran, the coral pink field of scrolling vines centred by an ivory medallion framed by narrow borders, 187cm by 102c; and a North West Persian rug (2)Kurdish - both ends missing out plain red guard stripe. Selvedges original. Pile fair. NW Persian - both ends with very minor losses. Selvedges original but fraying. Pile fair. Light wear at one end.
