THE BEATLES - ABBEY ROAD A first pressing of the seminal album. This is a very early version released before the misprints on the sleeve and labels could be corrected. Los 93

PLEASE PLEASE ME - 1ST UK MONO - An exceptional condition 1st UK pressing of the timeless debut LP - this extremely clean copy will be the perfect addition to any serious collection. Dick James credits for all McCartney/Lennon compositions (A1,2,6,7, B4,6). The record is in Ex+ condition. On side 1 there is one light hairline, very light surface mark on A5 into A6, but this will certainly not effect playback. Side 2 is closer to archive with perhaps just one or two extremely minor and very faint wispy marks. The striking black and gold labels are in stunning condition. MATRIX/STAMPERS: XEX 421-1N 2 G H and 422-1N 1 2 G H. The original 1st pressing 'right aligned' Angus McBean credit front laminated flipback design 'Ernest J. Day & Co' sleeve is in Ex+ condition. There is some very minor wear to the laminate and one small crease on the bottom of the flipback design on the bottom (reverse); there is little other wear to note.

THE WHITE ALBUM - EXPORT COPY - A scarce and seldom seen original export copy of the iconic self titled 1968 double LP (Parlophone black/yellow P-PCS 7067/7068). The records are both in Ex condition with only a couple of rather minor surface marks to note. There are certainly no heavier markings or scratches. MATRIX/STAMPERS: YEX 709-1 1 G L, 710-1 4 L G, 711-1 3 GH M and 712-2. Complete with the four original photos, spacer, black inners and the poster (all in clean condition). The original embossed top loading number 0310566 laminated sleeve is in super clean Ex condition. There is only some very minor wear to the opening edge and just a few other extremely minor and light bits of wear to the laminate. A really top copy of a top rarity.

Los 100

THE WHITE ALBUM - NUMBER 0000079 - A phenomenally low numbered original UK mono copy of the iconic White Album; the record was purchased for the vendor on the day of release from Oxford Street, London. Complete with poster (has some repair work), photos, spacer and original black inners. The records are in VG condition with numerous surface marks but no heavier scratches. Importantly, the laminated sleeve is in clean Ex condition with only a few very light and incidental creases. The embossed lettering is very clear with the number bright and sharp.

Los 16

PLEASE PLEASE ME - 2ND MONO - An extremely early version of the album with the rare black and gold Parlophone label. It does not have the Dick James credit making this copy a second pressing. Cat number is PMC 1202. Matrix numbers are XEX 421-1N/XEX 422-1N. Run outs are GP 1/GH 12. Vinyl condition is Ex with a couple of very minor light surface marks. Sleeve condition is VG, it is showing signs of age but there are no splits. A fantastic copy of the first Beatles LP

Los 71C

SGT PEPPER'S - GERMAN TEST PRESSING - A highly unusual and extremely rare German test pressing of the influential 1967 LP. The record has presumably been issued on a white label, with this coloured in 'psychedelic' pink pen. The labels are stamped 29. Mai 1967 with 'Unverkaufliche Musterplatte' text. Original SHZE 401 A1 and B1 matrix. The record is in VG condition with some light surface marks but no heavier markings or indeed any scratches. The original wide spine UK sleeve (PMC 7027) is in VG+ condition with some light edgewear. EST: £60-80

Los 55

YELLOW SUBMARINE - 1ST MONO - A well presented desirable 1st UK mono pressing of the 1969 LP (PMC 7070). The 'Sold In UK', '"An EMI Recording', '33 1/3 Mfd. In UK' LP is in VG+ condition. There are only a couple of minor surface marks, however there is a very slight 'dink' towards the end of track 2 on both sides (this seems to have been caused by the pesky Stones zip on 'Sticky Fingers!') - however, playback is not majorly disturbed with no skips or jumps. The original two red line sleeve is in VG+ condition with some light edgewear and a similar 'dink' where the zip has most likely caused a slight bump.

Los 66

PLEASE PLEASE ME - UK MONO 4TH RECORD/1ST SLEEVE - A very clean UK 4th mono pressing with a very clean 1st UK mono sleeve. The record ('Parlophone Co.', no 'Published' or 'Sold In UK') is in Ex condition with just a couple of quite light surface marks, but certainly nothing of any deep er nature whatsoever. The 1st pressing right aligned Angus McBean sleeve is in clean Ex condition with only very minor wear to the front laminate and some rather minor staining on the reverse. A top copy.

Los 65

SGT. PEPPER'S/WHITE ALBUM - 2 x original clean and early UK pressings. The sleeve is VG+ with some light wear to the spine.

Los 53

THE UNDERTAKERS - I FELL IN LOVE/THROW YOUR LOVE AWAY ACETATE - An unbelievable find here with this (perhaps one off) acetate recording of the fuzzed out double header from Liverpool band The Undertakers, contemporaries of The Beatles. Indeed, guitarist Chris Huston - a friend of Lennon and also features a young Jackie Lomax who would find fame recording with Apple. The record is a 7" recording on a 10" disc. 'Bob Gallo's Talent Masters Record Studios' with their New York address on the label with the artist name and track titles stamped. The record is in VG+ condition with only a couple of light marks to the playing surface and some 'peeling' to the lacquer on the outer disc (not in the playing area). The record is housed in the original sleeve which has the 'Progressive Label & Litho Co. Brooklyn 37, NY' on the 'Phonograph Records' sticker

Los 68

PLEASE PLEASE ME/LOVE ME DO 7" - 2 x well presented 1st UK red Parlophone 7" of these early releases! Referred to and illustrated in A History of the Harpsichord by Edwards L. Kittick, pp. 136-137, 485, note 23, Plate 6-4. Also see 'Some Notes on Giovanni Battista Boni da Cortona, Giralmo Zenti and others' by Frederick Hammond , Galpin Society Journal XL, December 1987, pp.37-47 for further information on the maker. A further reference to this harpsichord can be found in an article 'Italian Split-key Instruments with fewer than Nineteen Divisions to the Octave' by Christopher Stembridge and Denzil Wraight, the Journal of Performance Practice, 1994, No.2, p. 156, Item 7.The attribution to G. B. Boni is courtesy of Dr. Denzil Wraight who is quoted in Boalch in a letter to the owner "the lower moulding identifies the instrument quite conclusively…Thus I have no doubt about the attribution. The moulding referred to is illustrated in silhouette in The Historic Harpsichord, Volume III (editor Howard Schott) in the chapter 'The Identification and Authentication of Italian String Keyboard Instruments' by Denzil Wraight, p. 107. The moulding illustrated is from the Boni harpsichord in the Brussels Musical Instrument Museum. This harpsichord has been the subject of a number of alterations including conversion to a two-manual instrument. Under Mr. Mackenzie's instruction it was returned to what was believed to have been its original specification of a single 8ft. register. Boalch suggest that it had passed through the hands of Franciolini but it does not appear in any of his published catalogues. Other owners recorded by Boalch were Elizabeth Moss, Alec Hodsdon and Michael Thomas. A number of respected restorers have worked on the harpsichord in more recent times
