Bayonet: Unidentified European Yataghan blade sword bayonet possibly for a cadet rifle? 'A.O.F.' stamped to pommel. Blade 22.5". Leather chequered grip. This bayonet is quite light and has a smaller than usual grip, hence possible cadet usage. Based on the British P1856 design. Overall in good condition. (Possibly a Japanese P1856 British pattern?)
Bayonets: British bayonets for the No4 .303 Enfield Service Rifle: No9 MKI for the No4 rifle & Sten? in its steel scabbard with frog. Good condition. No4 MKII 5 (Singer/Savage). In its steel scabbard. Light wear overall. Plus a Naval Jack knife, plus a Belgian F.A.L. Bayonet Model 1963 for the South African R2 & R3 Assault rifles. In its steel scabbard with frog marked 'G. Tollman'. Very good condition overall. (4)
Gun: A fine single barrelled percussion shotgun by 'Fotherby.' Part octagonal, part round Damascus barrel 28". Good walnut half stock. German silver fore-end tip & escutcheon. Iron mounts. Original brass tipped rosewood ramrod. Plain acanthus scrolling to lock and hammer. Crisp action on 1st & 2nd cock. 10 bore. Metalwork with light pitting to a pleasing patina. Quality walnut buttstock with sculpted check rest. This is a fine sporting shotgun in shootable condition circa 1839-50.
Rifle: A scarce Great War Imperial German Geweht 98 7.92mm Service rifle. Breech dated 'SPANDAU 1916'. Receiver marked in 'FRAKTUR' 'GEN98'. Serial number 5867 to breech, stock and magazine plate. Original beech stock with Imperial Govt. inspection marks to buttstock. Matching straight bolt no 5867 in good working order and condition. Complete with certificate. (Light pitting to metalwork). *Note virtually ALL GEW 98s found in this country are battle trophies.
Sword: An 1821 Pattern infantry officers sword by Wilkinson (Royal Artillery Pattern). Ricasso marked 'HENRY WILKINSON PALL MALL, LONDON'. Etched blade with R.A devices. Top of blade numbered 35867*. Blade 35" in good condition. Steel triple bar hilt (light rusting). Wirebound fishskin grip (minor wear) in its steel scabbard (lightly rusted). This is a good quality sword which requires a sympathetic clean to restore it.
