Provenance: By descent in the family of Mary Duckworth, a close friend of the artist Katherine Church (1910-1999) who knew well artists such as Hodgkins, John Piper, Ivon Hitchens, Julian Trevelyan, Mary Fedden, Keith Vaughan and Alfred Wallis. Church sat for portraits by Hodgkins in 1937 and 1939. * We are very grateful to Jonathan Gooderham for his assistance with the cataloguing of this lot. *CR Slight water stain in ochre on roof upper left.
