White in print as an 18 year old in Cambridge. After the influence of the boundary-breaking science coming from the Cambridge University laboratories, the new student-run magazine Experiment pursued the formal, boundary-pushing experimentation associated with Modernism, as well as the methodological experimentation of scientific enquiry. It was edited by a young William Empson and Jacob Bronowski, and in addition to work by T H White it includes writing by Empson, Bronowski, the documentary filmmakers Basil Wright and Humphrey Jennings, and the poet Kathleen Raine.
