GARBO GRETA: (1905-1990) Swedish Actress, Academy Award winner. Rare D.S., Greta Garbo, two pages, 4to (and the second page neatly trimmed to oblong 8vo), California, 1941. The typed document is addressed to Loew's Incorporated and the actress consents 'to the use of my name in the lyrics of a song entitled "The Movies Gonna Get Ya' " written by E. Y. Harburg and Burton Lane, which song I understand is to be used in connection with your photoplay tentatively entitled "Babes on Broadway"', the document continuing with the lyrics, including the lines 'Oh, you've got that smile, that Klieg-light smile, the fans go wild about...., And the movies gonna get ya' if you don't watch out!....Oh you've got that oomph, that Garbo oomph, that makes 'em cheer and shout.....Sure, the movies gonna get ya' if you don't watch out!', and concluding by Garbo stating that 'No compensation is payable to me in connection with the use of my name as aforesaid, and I hereby release and relieve you of and from all claims and demands of any kind....' Boldly signed by Garbo with her name alone in dark fountain pen ink at the conclusion. Professionally double matted in black and brown alongside a 9.5 x 13 portrait of Garbo and framed and glazed in an ornate frame to an overall size of 26 x 22. One very light, minor stain at the base of the second page, not affecting the text or signature, otherwise VG Babes on Broadway (1941) is a musical film which starred Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney, and was directed by Busby Berkeley.

REEVES GEORGE: (1914-1959) American Actor, best known for his portrayal of Superman in the 1950s television programme Adventures of Superman. Rare dark fountain pen ink signature and inscription, 'To Sonny, thanks, George Reeves', on a page removed from an autograph album. Autographs of Reeves are rare in any form following his untimely death at the age of 45 from a gunshot.
