1973 International 1110 StepsideMake: International Model: 1110 Stepside Year: 1973Mileage: 40744VIN: 3H1B0CHB96279Configuration: Left Hand DriveRegistration: Q555HCPTransmission: automaticInternational's Light Line series of pick-ups and vans ran from 1969 to 1975. This 1110 Stepside, with 'Big Block' 6.3-litre V8 engine, was initially registered in the USA in 1973, but came from California to the UK and was registered here in June 1986. The current odometer reading is 40,774 miles, although this isn't warranted. There is no current MoT. The vehicle is on a Q-plate as the DVLA will require proof of age to issue a period registration, but evidence is supplied with the paperwork. The vendor tells us that the vehicle was restored in Cornwall, although it isn't clear from the paperwork precisely when this was. Some work seems to have been carried out during 2018, with more following in 2022. This includes new brake components; there are receipts for work from these two years in the folder. The vendor tells us that the wheels and tyres are also new. The logos and lettering on the truck are hand-painted rather than transfers. Beyond the V5C and the various invoices, there is a dating letter from the Wisconsin Historical Society confirming the International was built in 1973. GLENLIVET 12 YEAR OLD AND FOUNDER'S RESERVESingle malts. One of the very first distilleries in Scotland to be granted an official licence, after the passing of the licencing act in 1823, Glenlivet distillery has become synonymous with Speyside whisky. So much so, that at one point 28 other distilleries in the area adopted “Glenlivet” as a suffix to their own brand in order to piggyback on the reputation Glenlivet had built for itself. Although that practise has fallen by the wayside in recent years some independent bottlers still use it.The Glenlivet brand is now one of the most recognisable in the world, and despite the distillery undergoing an expansion and upgrade (beginning) in 2010, their iconic 12-Year-Old expression still had to be discontinued for a few years before production was able to catch up with demand. This lot provides an ideal opportunity to compare and contrast Glenlivet's NAS Founder's Reserve with the 12 Year Old it was originally replaced. Both fill levels in mid neck. There is a light pen mark to the side of the 12 Year Old carton.

TALISKER 10 YEAR OLDSingle malt.Even by today’s standards Talisker distillery is a bit out of the way, nestled on the shore of Loch Harport on the west coast of the isle of Skye. This might explain why, in its early days, the distillery frequently changed hands, with owners struggling to turn a profit. It wasn’t until owner Roderick Kemp oversaw construction of a pier in the late 19th century, allowing much easier access for the boats that transported the casks to the mainland, that the distillery’s fortunes began to improve.Despite a minor stumbling block in 1960 when the distillery burned down and had to be completely rebuilt, it has grown to become one of the most recognisable single malt brands in the world.45.8% ABV / 70clFill level in mid neck. There is some very light wear to the carton.
ARRAN 1998 ROBERT BURNS 250TH ANNIVERSARY EDITIONSingle malt.Still a relative youngster in whisky terms, Arran distillery began production in 1995. So much so, that in 2017 they began construction of a second distillery on the other side of the island. Sharing a name with Arran’s only other previous legal still (closed in 1837), Lagg distillery focuses on producing peated spirit.43% ABV / 70clFill level in mid neck. There is some minor staining to the box.

HIGHLAND PARK 17 YEAR OLD THE LIGHTSingle malt.Orkney’s Highland Park distillery is situated in the town of Kirkwall on the site of an illicit still thought to have been operated by Magnus Eunson, a smuggler, local butcher and former priest who was directly descended from Viking settlers. With that heritage, it’s fitting that today they frequently draw from Scandinavian mythology when it comes to naming their whiskies. The distillery is known for its signature style that utilises Orcadian peat in the malting process, resulting in a fragrant, heathery spirit that is most often left matured in Sherry wood. This expression was part of a duo, along with "The Dark", which celebrate the changing seasons on Orkney. "The Light" represents the transition into summer, and is matured in Bourbon casks, whereas "The Dark" is a rich sherry matured whisky that's ideally enjoyed on a cold autumn / winter night. One of 28,000 bottles released.52.9% ABV / 70clFill level in mid neck.

GLENFIDDICH SNOW PHOENIXSingle malt.Without Glenfiddich, Scotland might not enjoy the same thriving whisky scene it has today. Founded in 1886 by William Grant, and still family owned, Glenfiddich was one of the first distilleries to seriously market single malt whisky as a credible alternative to blends. This decision was prompted by a dispute with their grain supplier in 1963, leading to a scaling back in production of their Grant’s blend. By the late 1960s Glenfiddich single malt was a firm hit with the Jet Set, who were picking it up in their droves from the newly emerging Duty-Free market. That early prescience clearly paid off, as (despite strong competition from fellow Speyside giants Glenlivet and Macallan) Glenfiddich is consistently the best-selling single malt in the world, shifting over 1 million cases every year. The Snow Phoenix is a vatting of casks (some allegedly very old ones) that were rescued from one of their warehouses in 2010, when the roof collapsed under the weight of a huge snow dump.47.6% ABV / 70clThe bottle is in good condition. There are some very minor dents to the tin and some light scratching to the base, but on the whole it is in very good condition for a Snow Phoenix tin.
GLENKINCHIE 20 YEAR OLDSingle malt.Glenkinchie brings the Lowland region’s signature light grassy tones to Diageo’s Johnnie Walker blends. Single Malt from the East Lothian distillery didn’t begin to appear until 1998 when it was chosen over Rosebank to represent the Lowlands in the Classic Malts range.58.4% ABV / 70clFill level in mid neck.
AUCHENTOSHAN SELECTSingle malt.Auchentoshan is part of a small minority of Scottish distilleries, in that every drop of whisky it produces is sold as a single malt. Similarly unusual is its use of triple distillation to produce a purer spirit that’s light and mildly fruity.Situated just outside Clydebank, the distillery was lucky to survive the 1941 blitz relatively unscathed. Only one of its warehouses was damaged by a bomb blast, and another near miss provided a blast crater that later became the distillery’s picturesque pond.40% ABV / 70clANTIQUARY 12 YEAR OLDBlended whisky.40% ABV / 70cl
