GIA Certified Art Deco Circa 1920s Diamond and Platinum Ring Set with a 2.38 Carat Old European Cut Fancy Light Green Diamond and a 2.11 Carat Old European Cut Diamond F Color, VVS1 Clarity. Accented throughout with baguette cut diamonds, round cut diamonds and small rubies. Ring size 3-1/2. Approx. weight: 9.1 grams. GIA report to accompany this Lot. Gilbert Holiday (British, 1879-1937), 'The night rider of the N.S.E.' , watercolour and bodycolour, signed 'Gilbert Holiday' lower left and inscribed , 8½ x 10¾in. (21.5 x 27.25cm.) , *Condition: Some foxing to mount and to lower grey section of painting, which also has some small white surface mould spots to the darker grey paint. Inscription in yellow to lower right is a little rubbed and difficult to read - the inscription is repeated in pencil to the lower margin (probably originally intended to be hidden beneath the mount). Some yellowing to the white paint on the horse's head and collar. Minor paint flaking to top of back leg. Will benefit from light cleaning and reframing.
Flemish School (18th century), Bawdy tavern scene, oil on oak panel, signed with monogram BL/LB to table centre left, in ebonised frame with carved gilt foliate slip., 10 1/8 x 7¼in. (25.7 x 18.4cm.), *Condition: Examined under UV - extensive retouching to dark background upper left. Minor retouches elsewhere and minor strengthening to figures. Possible area of repainting to right of woman's head (not visible under UV). Panel slightly convex. Light craquelure visible across the panel.
Arthur Joseph Meadows (British, 1843-1907), 'Antwerp on the Scheldt', oil on canvas, signed, dated 1879 and inscribed to artist's handwritten label verso, in original swept frame, 11½ x 21½in. (29.25 x 54.5cm.), * Provenance: with Frank A. Knight, 121 London Wall, *Condition: Examined under UV - one possible tiny retouch to centre left, otherwise appears to be very original. Some fairly light craquelure visible to lower left of canvas, but paint is stable. Frame good overall, with a few touches of gold repainting to edges and a couple of very minor losses. Label verso very time stained but clearly legible.
Sydney Harpley, R.A. (British, 1927-1992), Standing female nude, ink and wash on card, signed 'Harpley' lower left, 21¾ x 13¾in. (55.25 x 35cm.), * Provenance: With Studio Eighteen, Jersey, *Condition: Several red-brown spot marks to surface of card to right hand upper and lower corners and two others to upper part of figure. Small patch of light toning to paper to upper left corner, light mount burn to upper right and card lightly time stained overall. Damp damage to mount at lower right. Signature appears slightly faded.
Albert Ludovici Jnr. R.B.A. (1852-1932), Rotten Row, Hyde Park, London, c.1920, oil on canvas, signed lower left, 12½ x 17¾in. (31.75 x 45cm.), *Condition: Scattered retouches visible throughout under UV and probable strengthening to branches upper left. Tiny paint flake from lady's black dress lower left. Has been relined and wove paper covers the canvas verso - probably recently cleaned and restored. Canvas quite stiff and is slightly uneven around the margins above the stretcher, with a few light lines of craquelure in these areas. Retouching in gilt to the corner of the slip and consequently there is a little brushed gilt on the surface of the canvas in the very corners.
Zygmunt Turkiewicz (Polish, 1913-1973), 'Kneeling nude', watercolour and bodycolour, signed 'turkiewicz' centre right, gilt frame with canvas slip, 27¼ x 16½in. (69.25 x 42cm.), * Provenance: with Cassel Gallery, Thurloe Place, London. Lot includes original purchase receipt dated Jan. 16th 1968., *Condition: Not examined out of frame. Spotted dirt and mould beneath glass but paper not affected by foxing. Some tiny rubs and scuffs to surface of red paint to upper right showing white paper beneath. A few light scuff line marks to surface of paint but overall good.
Anthony Levett-Prinsep (British, 1908-1983), Harbour scene at night, gouache and pencil on board, signed 'Prinsep' lower right, original gilt and painted frame, 16 x 20¼in. (40.5 x 51.5cm.), *Condition: Not examined out of frame. Significant craquelure and flaking to paint to grey/white reflections of buildings to centre of panel, blues to top right corner, a patch above the blue roofs at top centre and to centre left margin. Some craquelure also visible to yellow and light blue buildings towards upper right.

Two small flakes to paint to box shaped building centre left. Small yellow glue mark to very bottom left corner.

(2), *Condition: both pieces in good condition with light surface wear mainly to bases and high points, no other faults found.

A George V silver razor box by Sampson Mordan & Co., Chester 1912, rounded rectangular form with circular push button to open and original light brown suede fitted interior, engraved with retailer's name, 'SORLEY GLASGOW' to base, engraved monogram to lid, 3 7/8 x 2¼in. (9.8 x 5.7cm.)., *Condition: Marks a little rubbed but remain clearly legible. Small dent to left side of front and three other smaller dings to front. Two other small dents to lid (to front left and right hand side near front corner). A few other tiny dings. Interior clean. Lid closes cleanly.
A cased set of six Elizabeth II silver goblets, Deakin & Francis, Birmingham 1972, of early Georgian form with bell shaped, gilt washed bowls and baluster stems, 5 5/8in. (14.3cm.) high, weight 41.1 tr.oz., in red fitted case., *Condition: Some light superfical scratching to exterior and one bowl has a very slightly dent to top edge. Marks clear. Box good, with one small stain mark to white fabric inside lid.
Four Elizabeth II silver reproductions of The Hertford Elizabethan Chalice, Garrard & Co., London 1972, no. 929 and 1239-1241of 1300 produced, 6¼in. (15.8cm.) high, weight 24.5 tr.oz., in original red leatherette cases, three with certificates., *Condition: Chalices in very good condition, with just expected very light surface scratching from polishing. Three box lids are detached - the leatherette 'hinge' from the back edge has come unstuck and the white silk stays detached. Some creasing to certificates.
Two pairs of Victorian silver cauldron salts, one by Charles Stuart Harris, London 1895, of plain Georgian form with shell and hoof feet and foliate rim, later blue glass liners, the other pair by Martin, Hall & Co., Sheffield 1873, with chased floral and foliate decoration, beaded rim and three ball feet, blue glass liners; and a later salt spoon, silver weight 8.35 tr.oz. (5), *Condition:- 1895 pair: Marks a little rubbed but remain legible. Small ding to underside of each and light crease to underside of one. Liners later., - 1873 pair: Marks good. In very good condition., - Spoon: Good condition. Maker's mark a little rubbed.
An impressive silver plated copper footed punch bowl on stand, by Barker & Ellis of England, with chased floral and foliate decoration and cast rim with fruit, foliage and rocaille, standing on four foliate bracket feet, the bowl 16½in. (42cm.) diameter, the stand 21in. (53.5cm.) diameter, with twelve matching cups and a matched punch ladle. (15), *Condition:In very good condition, with just expected light surface scratching from use and polishing. No dings or dents. No significant wear to plating.
A Chinese porcelain famille rose brush pot, probably early 20th century, of cylindrical form with well painted decoration of children in a rustic setting, four playing a board game on the grass whilst a fifth climbs a nearby tree, the reverse with calligraphy, iron red seal mark to base, 6in. (15cm.) high., *Condition: in excellent condition, with very light rubbing to calligraphy.,
A set of eight Paris porcelain cabinet plates, second quarter 19th century, painted with figures in garden settings, within pale orange and gilt borders with classical decoration and three blue tablets painted with tazza, 8½in. (21.5cm.) diameter. (8), *Condition: All in very good condtion, with no chips, cracks or other sigificant faults. All have a little light scratching to gilt and all have erased red painted lettering to the base. One has two glaze bubble flaws to gilt rim and a few have tiny rubs and nicks to painted decoration.
A Persian Saruk rug, second quarter 20th century, the single pale blue and madder pendant lozenge medallion on a dark blue field with all over floral decoration and light blue and ivory spandrels, within a madder Herati style border, 82 x 52½in. (208.25 x 133.5cm.).* Condition: Colours very strong and even throughout. Pile generally good but there are some small areas around the main field which show some wear to the pile, possibly as a consequence of use under a dining table. There are a couple of small, well stitched repairs (one shown in photos) and there is a small grey mark to one edge which should be fairly even to remove, as it appears to be something which has been dropped onto the rug which has dried. Overall good.

Feby 43.', watercolour heightened with charcoal and chalk on tinted paper, inscribed verso, unframed, 7 x 10¼in. (17.75 x 26cm.), *Condition:A few light edge and corner creases and a few minor rubs to margins. Good overall with strong colours. Not framed or mounted.
Edmund Blampied, R.E. (Jersey, 1886-1966), Fallen giant, pen and black ink with charcoal on wove paper, pencil sketching visible beneath in places, laid down on card, signed in pencil 'E. Blampied' lower right, inscribed lower left, 'Un..?.. drawing', 5 x 7 1/8in. (12.7 x 18cm.), *Condition:A few faint fox marks to upper part of work. Paper has light time staining to margins. Clean overall.
A fine Art Deco platinum, 18ct gold, sapphire and diamond pendant, the oval cut sapphire of fine cornflower blue colour, approx. 3.60ct, flanked by two teardrops each set with an old brilliant cut diamond, suspended from a fan shaped openwork pendant set with a mix of old brilliant, rose and single cut diamonds, total weight approx. 0.50cts, colour I-J, clarity SI, overall drop 5.2cm., on a modern 18ct white gold link chain.* Condition: The sapphire has a few miniscule frits to the top facets and facets to the underside, and also tiny frits to the centre point of the back of the stone - these are only visible through a 10x lens. There are a few small inclusions visible in the stone through a 10x lens - one dark needle inclusion to the left hand edge and a tiny bubble inclusion beneath it, three or four other tiny inclusions to the top and bottom of the stone and some wispy faint inclusions around the bottom of the stone. Diagonal striations in the colour are visible through a 10x lens when held up to the light. There is no certificate so no info. re treatment or origin of the stone. The remainder of the pendant is in very good condition, with no damage to the setting or millegrain borders. All diamonds appear original and are well set. The chain is modern.

The hands both show some yellow tarnish spotting to the bright edges. Tiny crack to lumed dot marker at top of rotating crown. Watch winds and runs. Date and hands adjust correctly. No service records as watch has been stored in its box since it was worn during early ownership. Box very good. Outer card box with edge wear.

Some wear to surface of leather to handle from use. Good overall. Interior very good.

Heavy tarnishing to brass corner mounts to back left corner. One rivet head missing from front lower left corner mount. Cream plastic cover from back of lock to interior is detached and cracked around the screw holes. No key.
A Louis Vuitton lady's hat box or square steamer trunk in monogram canvas, first half 20th century, covered in LV monogram canvas, bound in LV stamped tan leather, with brass mounts, clasps and lock, single tan leather handle to top, the interior with original lift-out basket and quilted ivory ribboned fabric lining to lid, original label to inside of lid, 'LOUIS VUITTON 788958 PARIS 70 CHAMPS-ELYSSEE 149 NEW BOND STREET LONDON NICE CANNES VICHY', painted initials J.E.G to lid, 20 x 17½in. (50.75 x 44.5cm.), 18¼in. (46.4cm.) high, in fine condition, with key., *Condition:Some wear to painted initials. Carrying handle slightly water marked and faded but remains very sturdy. A few bumps to sides, small surface stain to lower centre front, small scuff to rear and light scratch to right side near back. Overall the exterior is in lovely, very original condition. Very minor rubs and marks to leather edging. Brass has not been polished. A few small spot stain marks inside lid and some pin holes to fabric. Two areas of rust spotting to fabric to sides of the base from the metal hinge behind. Underside also good with no damage to canvas and expected wear to wooden slats from careful use.
A pair of French Empire style 19th century parcel gilt and patinated bronze three light candelabra, the urn nozzles on foliate style arms, on a fluted column candlestick with palmette and foliate decorated circular base, 16¼in. (42.25cm.) high. (2), *Condition:Some tarnishing to gilt parts. One candelabra section slightly loosely fitted together - the threaded rod holding it in one piece has worn threads to either end, meaning that the section cannot be screwed together firmly. No other faults. On the same example the candlestick is bent over a little on the base and therefore stands at a slight angle.
A pair of patinated bronze Baroque style five light candelabra, late 19th century, mid-brown patination, the five scroll branches with swagged urn form nozzles, on an urn form column with twin beast mask handles and lion mask, fruit and gadrooned decoration, raised on a waisted circular base with gadrooned and foliate decoration, raised on two pairs of foliate scroll feet, 24in. (61cm.) high. (2), *Condition:Very good overall, with original patina with just light wear to edges and raised detail.
A pair of gilt bronze rococo style six light candelabra, first half 20th century, the six scrolling, entwined foliate branches with flowerbud style nozzles and foliate drip pans, flowing into a shaped circular base, 19½in. (40.5cm.) high. (2), *Condition:1. Three nozzles/drip pans a little loose on threaded mounts. Some wear to gilding to edges and raised detail and some evidence of enhancement to the gilding with paint. , 2. Heavier wear to the gilding, notably to the base. Small casting cracks to the tip of one leaf. , , Have been electrified in the past. Gilding a slightly different tone between the two candelabra.
Three Afghan choora, probably late 19th / early 20th century, each with tapering T-Section blades, two engraved with floral decoration, two-stage hilts with ornate metal frames, two with bone and one with a coral style early plastic handle, the wooden scabbards covered with leather or brass. (3), *Condition:each piece with light pitting to blades, decoration mostly good.
A 19th century Calvert style ivory chess set, red stained and natural, well turned, the king 10.3cm. high, the pawns 4.3cm. high. (complete); together with a 19th century mahogany cased travelling chess set with red stained and natural ivory pieces, the board 9¼in. (23.5cm.) square; and a 19th century Chinese export chinoiserie lacquered folding chess / backgammon board. (3), *Condition:- Chess set: One white bishop with small chip to mitre. Old glue to threaded joint below one white knight's head. Red queen - worn patch to red stain to ball to top. Two chips to turning on red king. A few tiny frits to collars on pawns. Red pieces have a few rubs and tiny scratches to stained colour. One red knight has heavier wear to detail on head., - Travelling chess set: Very good. Complete. Some rubbing to polish around holes on board squares from placing of pieces during play. Dark spirit stain to wood to border of board in one corner. Exterior has some light scratches and scuffs to surface., - Chinese board: Fair condition - heavy wear to lacquer to exterior and chips/flakes to edges. Interior has some gilt wear and large crack across lacquer to one side. Lacks catch to keep closed.
Queen Victoria interest - a fragment of cloth from the bier when she was lying in State at Windsor Castle, the cut piece of purple baize cloth pinned to a handwritten note, "A piece of cloth cut from the cloth which was laid over the Bier that the Coffin of the late "Our most Gracious Majesty" Queen Victoria laid in State and given to me by a friend, Mary Henry, Clevis Hou, Porthcawl, 1910"; together with a Hymn sheet with black outline for 'Sleep thy last sleep' from the funeral; and a timetable for the journey of King Edward VII from Ballater to Euston, October 14th 1907. (3), *Condition:- Cloth & note: Some foxing and time staining to paper. Paper has been folded in three. Tiny chip to one corner. , - Hymn sheet: Small 5mm tear to LH edge and some light creasing. A few dirty smudges. Good overall., - Time Table: Some foxing and partial split to fold at top and bottom. Some crumpling and small creases. Small chip to top back corner.
Continental School (18th century), Portrait miniature of a lady, half length, wearing a green lace trimmed dress with scalloped collar with bow and pearl necklace, her dark hair tied in a bun with pearls, falling in ringlets onto her shoulders, oval oil on copper, 8 x 6.4cm., in an embossed leather case.* Condition: Surface dirt, would benefit from a light clean. Undulation to the copper plate, particularly to left side. Two small dents in the surface. Several small paint losses and minor scratches. Leather case: worn and scuffed but intact. Original hinge and clasp functions normally.
