A Medieval gold posy ring, late 12th century, with rectangular section hoop, the exterior engraved with Roman/Lombardic lettering in thirteen concave rectangular panels: ‘+.ET.IB.II:VV.N:G:I:TAMOR’, finely engraved laddering present in all the lettering., the inscription has been partially deciphered and may read “And to you I love you”, with plain interior, ring size approximately P. £2,400-£3,000 --- Provenance: This ring was discovered by a detectorist at Bradfield, Essex in 2022. Bradfield, in 1086, had a recorded population of just 22 households. This ring has been recorded on the Portable Antiquities Scheme database, ref: ESS-B9A945, and disclaimed as Treasure, ref: 2022-T770. Comparables on the PAS database include NMS-ED74C3; DUR-4301BA; LIN-A1E7B8. Condition Report The ring is extremely fine with very light surface wear. Ring size very approximate. Gross weight 1.2gm.

This christening set was presented to Prince Michael of Kent on the occasion of his christening on 4 August 1942 by his godmother Lady Patricia Ramsay. Lady Victoria Patricia Helena Ramsay (1886-1974) was a granddaughter of Queen Victoria. Upon her marriage to Alexander Ramsay in February 1919, she relinquished her title of H.R.H. Dial: slight surface spotting visible under magnification, small scratch at 4 o’clock. Case: light scratches, engraved inscription ‘ Christmas JGB 1960’. Gross weight: 55gms. According to a PMI test on an XRF Analyzer, the metal is testing as 9ct gold. A 9ct gold and amethyst single stone ring, 1972, the oval-cut amethyst claw-set to a beaded mount and scrollwork shoulders, London hallmark, ring size H½. £100-£150 --- Condition Report General light surface wear commensurate with age and use. The amethysts is a deep purple colour with very good transparency and even saturation. The stone appears to be slightly loose in it’s settings and would benefit form a a re-tip. Evidence of resizing and some porosity to the shank. Gross weight 5gm.
