Claude Francis Barry RBA (1883-1970), "Henry VIII's Gate Windsor Castle -" Evening Light, etching, signed in pencil bottom right and dated 1911, inscribed in pencil bottom left, 9.75 x 6.5in (25 x 16.5cm). * The Wintle Collection: Irene Carr, daughter of the early St. Ives School artist & photographer Sydney Herbert Carr (1864- 1917), married Francis Edward Wintle at the parish church, St. Ives in June 1912. The wedding was a major local social event with a reception at the Porthminster Hotel, and was attended by a number of local and other artists, many of whom presented paintings to the couple as wedding presents. The Wintle Collection includes a number of these presents, which are being offered on the open market for the first time. A full list of guests and presents was published in The St. Ives Times on June 21st 1912, listing a "framed etching" as being given by Mr. and Mrs. Claude Barry. A facsimile copy of the article from The St. Ives Times accompanies the lot. Please contact us for further details of this unusual provenance. Early Claude Barry etchings are rare, as it is reputed that his wife burnt all of his work when he went off with a mistress in 1914.

A Fancy Light Pink Coloured Diamond Pendant on Chain, the light pink marquise cut diamond in a yellow rubover setting to a border of white round brilliant cut diamonds on a bale set with white brilliant cut diamonds in white claw settings, on a trace link chain, pendant measures 0.8cm by 1.9cm, chain length 40.5cm, in a fitted case by Garrard & Co Ltd. See illustration-plate 7a. Accompanied by GIA report 15278865, 16th October 2006, stating the diamond to be 0.91 carat, and a very light pink colour, of natural origin.
H. M. S. Glorious - An early 20th Century photograph album, documenting the collision with S. S. Florida April 1st 1931, including several photographs of the interlocked ships by an unknown officer, also including many photographs of both vessels post accident and numerous photographs of unsuccessful landings etc. * Built by Holland & Wolff, Belfast in 1916 as a 'large light cruiser' she saw little action in WWI before her conversion to an aircraft carrier over the period 1924 - 30. After the collision with S. S. Florida in which 30 lives were lost, she saw action in Norway at the beginning of WWII before being sank by the German battlecruiser Shornhort. Admiralty paper relating to the sinking are still currently held under the 100 year embargo on their release.
A 12 bolt divers helmet by Siebe Gorman & Co Ltd, number 16771, Circa 1930's, the bonnet with numbered face plate, cross banded oval side ports, left fitted spit cock valve, adjustable exhaust valve and lashing eyes, the corselet with makers plate, stamped and numbered bands with flat wing nuts and front weight pins, 49cm high, later fitted electric light fitting through top of bonnet.
A small Islamic thick-walled cupping vessel made in light yellow glass, the domed body with a cut off and ground rim, surface pitting containing iridescence to the exterior and patchy brown and silvery iridescent weathering on the interior, possibly Iran, 10th-12th century AD, rim diameter 4.5 cm, 3cm high.
A Roman Eastern Sigillata Ware pottery single-handled jug in light orange clay with a red gloss, the funnel mouth on a cylindrical neck and spherical body on a low base, applied angular handle from the top of the neck to the shoulder, Syro-Palestine, second half 1st to early 2nd century AD, 26 cm high.
