A rare pair of carved and painted wooden whirligigs early 20th century, probably American, the standing figures with the original polychrome paint and flared wooden paddle form arms, depicting young men with well painted features including moustaches and pronounced carved angular noses, with red and black peaked caps, muscular torsos with light green shirts, red trousers with pronounced buttocks and black shoes, on metal bar mounts, 13in (33cm) high from base to hat, one with damage to one arm and one foot. Vintage signed postcard photograph of Barnett standing in a full length pose at the open door of a motor vehicle. Signed in dark fountain pen ink with his name alone to a light area of the image. Together with James Braid (1870-1950) Scottish Golfer, Open Champion 1901, 1905, 1906, 1908 & 1910. Pencil signature (`yours Respectfully, Jas. Braid`) on a small, slightly irregularly clipped piece.
