Spitzhelm aus Bronze, altassyrisch (oder urartäisch), 8. - 7. Jhdt. v. Chr. Nicht deformierter, vollständig erhaltener Helm mit annähernd kegelförmiger Kalotte und zwei zungenförmigen Wangenschutzblechen. Der Helm inklusive der Wangenschutzbleche wurde aus einem kreissegmentförmigen Bronzeblech hergestellt. Die kegelförmige Spitze ist vom leicht nach außen gewölbten Unterteil der Kalotte abgesetzt. Ca. 5 - 8 mm oberhalb der Unterkante des Helms befinden sich ringsherum Löcher im Abstand von ca. 2 - 2,5 cm, die der Befestigung eines nach außen umgebördelten Helmfutters dienten. Die ehemalige Breite des umgebördelten Helmfutters ist außen teilweise durch Streifen von Oxyden gut erkennbar. Auf der Hinterseite wurden die überlappenden Enden des Blechs durch vier senkrecht eingesetzte Blechstreifen verbunden, die durch je zwei schmale Schlitze gezogen sind. Oberhalb des zweiten Schlitzpaares befinden sich zusätzlich zwei runde Löcher, durch die wohl einst organisches Material gezogen wurde. Der Helm besitzt eine glänzende Patina, die an einzelnen Stellen den bronzenen Untergrund durchschimmern lässt und die partiell mit Oxydflecken und leichten Inkrustationen überzogen ist. Einzelne Risse und Bruchstellen am Rand und in der Kalotte sind von innen her stabilisiert bzw. ohne Fehlstellen wieder zusammengefügt. Höhe 36 cm. Formgleiche Helme sind auf Reliefs aus dem Ninive der Zeit Assurbanipals (669 - 627 v. Chr.) dargestellt.Dazu ein hochwertiger Ständer aus Metall.Provenienz: Ostdeutsche Privatsammlung. An Old-Assyrian (or Urartian) pointed helmet, 8th - 7th century B.C. Non-deformed, completely preserved helmet with an approximately conical calotte and two tongue-shaped cheek guards. The helmet including the cheek guards was made of a circular-segment-shaped bronze sheet. The conical tip is set off from the slightly outwardly curved lower part of the calotte. Approximately 5 - 8 mm above the lower edge of the helmet there are holes all around at a distance of approx. 2 - 2.5 cm, which served to fasten a helmet lining flanged to the outside. The former width of the flanged helmet lining is partly visible on the outside through strips of oxides. On the rear side, the overlapping ends of the sheet metal were connected by four vertically inserted sheet metal strips, each drawn through two narrow slots. Above the second pair of slots there are two additional round holes through which organic material was probably once drawn. The helmet has a shiny patina, which allows the bronze background to shimmer through in places and which is partially covered with oxide stains and light incrustations. Individual cracks and fractures on the rim and in the calotte have been stabilised from the inside or rejoined without missing parts. Height 36 cm. Similar helmets are depicted on reliefs from Nineveh during the time of Assurbanipal (669 - 627 B.C.).Comes with a high-quality metal stand.Provenance: Eastern German private collection.

Ziegelplatte mit Bemalung, canosinisch, um 200 v. Chr. Rechteckige Ziegelplatte mit vollflächiger Bemalung der Vorderseite mit Jenseitssymbolik in verschiedenen Farben: rosa, hellblau, dunkelblau, braun, dunkelbraun und violett. In der Mitte der geflügelte, durch Perlenketten um den Hals und schräg über die Schulter geschmückte Eros mit angewinkelten Armen. In seiner Rechten ein Stab mit kreuzförmigem Aufsatz nach unten gewandt; in der Linken ein Lasso, dessen Schlinge er vor seinem Körper über dem Kopf schwingt. Flankiert von zwei geflügelten Pferden mit Zaumzeug, die sich Eros zugewandt aufbäumen. Unter den Pferden leicht nach unten geneigte Delfine. Die polychrome Malerei etwas ausgeblichen, aber ausgezeichnet erhalten. Länge 40,7, Höhe 21,3 cm. Der Ziegel knapp 3 cm dick. Das ausgezeichnet erhaltene Stück gibt eine Vorstellung von der sonst kaum erhaltenen griechischen Tafelmalerei, zumindest in der spezifischen Ausprägung eines künstlerischen Zentrums in Großgriechenland.Provenienz: Aus in Deutschland verwahrter Privatsammlung, erworben in den 1990er Jahren im englischen Kunstmarkt. A painted Canosa tile, circa 200 B.C. The front of the rectangular tile entirely covered in painting, with symbols of the afterlife in different colours: pink, light blue, dark blue, brown, dark brown and purple. In the middle the winged figure of Eros, chains of pearls draped around his neck and over his shoulders, his arms bent at an angle. A staff with a cross-shaped top piece held downwards in his right hand; a lasso in his left hand, the loop swinging over his head in front of his body. Flanked by two winged horses with bridles, rearing up towards Eros. Between the horses, dolphins facing slightly downwards. The polychrome painting somewhat faded, but in excellent condition. Length 40.7, height 21.3 cm. The tile almost 3 cm thick. The fine state of preservation gives an idea of Greek panel painting, which is otherwise hardly still in existence, at least in the specific manifestation of an artistic centre in Greater Greece.Provenance: From a private collection in Germany, acquired on the English art market in the 1990s.

Illyrischer Helm mit Merkmalen korinthischer Helme der Lamia-Gruppe, 5. Jhdt. v. Chr. Später illyrischer Helm der dritten Stufe mit einem geschwungenen Grat, der den oberen Teil der Kalotte markant absetzt, ähnlich korinthischen Helmen der Lamia-Gruppe. Durch diesen Grat wird vorne ein Stirngiebel gebildet, in dessen unterem Abschnitt nahe dem Rand ein Niet zur Befestigung des Helmbusches sitzt. Die Wangenschirme markant weit nach unten und vorne gezogen und leicht nach außen schwingend, ähnlich den korinthischen Helmen der genannten Gruppe. Das Gesichtsfeld wie für illyrische Helme typisch rechteckig ausgeschnitten, hier mit einem glatten Rand, der jedoch durch ein fein eingeritztes ionisches Kymation verziert ist, das sich auch entlang der Unterkanten der Wangenschirme weiterzieht. Zwischen den Wangenschirmen und dem nach hinten ausgestellten Nackenschirm ein markanter, spitzer Einzug. Entlang des Scheitels der Kalotte, beginnend und endend mit dem markanten Grat, zwei parallele Wülste, die einerseits die Kalotte stabiler machen und andererseits der Aufnahme des Helmbusches dienten.Höhe ca. 26 cm. Breite ca. 17 cm. Kleine Risse an der Unterkante des rechten Wangenschirms. Brüche und Risse von innen her stabilisiert. Geringfügige Ergänzungen am Hinterteil der oberen Kalotte, sonst hervorragend erhaltene Originalsubstanz mit grüner Patina und leichten Inkrustationen.Ausgesprochen schöne und optisch attraktive Mischform eines griechischen Helmes. Provenienz: Österreichische Privatsammlung. An Illyrian helmet with features of Corinthian helmets of the Lamia group, 5th century B.C. Late Illyrian helmet of the third stage with a curved ridge that distinctively sets off the upper part of the calotte, similar to Corinthian helmets of the Lamia group. This ridge forms a frontal gable at the front, in the lower section of which, near the rim, is a rivet for fastening the crest. The cheekpieces distinctively drawn far down and forward and slightly swinging outwards, similar to the Corinthian helmets of the aforementioned group. The facial field is cut out rectangularly, as is typical of Illyrian helmets, here with a smooth rim, which is, however, decorated by a finely incised Ionic cymation, which also continues along the lower edges of the cheekpieces. Between the cheek guards and the backwards flared neck guard, a prominent pointed indentation. Along the crown of the calotte, beginning and ending with the prominent ridge, two parallel ridges, which on the one hand make the calotte more stable and on the other hand served to hold the crest.Height approx. 26 cm. Width approx. 17 cm. Small cracks on the lower edge of the right cheek piece. Fractures and cracks stabilised from the inside. Minor completions to the back of the upper calotte, otherwise excellently preserved original substance with green patina and light incrustations.An exceptionally beautiful and visually attractive mixed form of a Greek helmet. Am Außenrand unter der Glasur stellenweise Reste dünner weißer Fassung der Lippe. Im Inneren geringe Glasur-Brandfehler. Auf der Außenseite wenige helle Flecken unter der Glasur. Minimaler Chip am Fußring, sonst intakt. Höhe 5 cm. Durchmesser 12 cm. Provenienz: Aus Münchner Sammlung. A fine red Chinese bowl, Qing Dynasty, 17th - 18th century Thin-walled red bowl on a low, slightly projecting foot ring. Transparent, slightly iridescent glaze with fine crackle. On the outer rim under the glaze in places remains of thin white lining of the lip. Minor firing defects on the inside glaze. On the outside a few light spots from the potters fingerprints under the glaze. Minimal chip on the foot ring. Otherwise intact. Height 5 cm. Diameter 12 cm.
