A MAHOGANY AND UPHOLSTERED SOFAIN LATE VICTORIAN STYLE, AFTER DESIGNS BY HOWARD & SONS, OF RECENT MANUFACTUREapproximately 85cm high, 213cm wide, 93cm deep Purchased by the current vendor from Beaumont and Fletcher, Kings Road, London. The form is titled by the firm 'Pompadour High Back Sofa'Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and useThe fabric is a velvet/moquette type pile. The colour is variable as it has a striated pattern of abrash-type muted greens which gives an appearance of age. The pile has a knap which gives variable marks and colouration. Rather like velvet, the pile, once pressed or squashed in one direction it isn't always possible to 'stroke' the pile the other way so some 'marks' are not possible to smooth in the opposite direction. It is not possible to see the filling of the cushions, they are heavy and have the appearance of soft feather/down but are perhaps stuffed with a man-made fibre as they slowly self inflate after they have been sat on. It is supremely comfortable!19cm ground clearance- seat depth 67cm. The width at the back is the same at the front, approx 210-213cm wide, the back has rounded corners. As catalogued this does not appear to have any great age and the condition overall reflects this, the legs are polished and uniformly dark in places, the upholstery has some light signs of use in a domestic setting - the front corners of the arms with some balding to the velvet type upholstery- also some small marks to cushions and pulling of fabric. Due to the knap of the upholstery the sofa appears marked and worn but this is not the case Overall the frame appears solid and stablePlease refer to additional images for visual reference to conditionCondition Report Disclaimer
