The last time you saw this Defender it had just been rolled into a ball by James Bond's wingless Islander.Leading Land Rover modifiers, Bowler Motorsport, were tasked by Jaguar Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations division, with producing a number of vehicles to be used in the forthcoming James Bond movie, 'Spectre'The firm transformed 10 standard production, Santorini Black, crew-cab 110s into the SVX Concept or Spectre Defender. The cars featured huge 37-inch tyres, heavy-duty roll cages plus toughened suspensions with rose joints and Bilstein rally dampersA full internal and external roll-cage was fitted, a roof rack and Light Force spotlights were added, as well as a front nudge bar, Recaro seats with 4-point harnesses, a Warn winch, a snorkel, rocker guards, a front bash plate, and a hydraulic handbrakeThe engine bay also received significant attention, power from the original 120 bhp turbo diesel was increased to 185 bhp, and a prodigious 368 lb/ft of torqueWhilst some of the cars were earmarked for stationary close up and interior shots, seven were prepared for the snow scenes with two ending up severely damagedThis particular car enjoyed the most spectacular demise of all, ending up being rolled into a ball by Bond's wingless Islander as it emerged from the barn still travelling at speedInitially assumed to be 'written-off', that was not the case and the car was returned to Bowler who rebuilt it totally at a cost of around £46,000Now returned to the road and UK registered with the significant registration 'A007 SVX', the car has still only covered 35 miles and will be MOT'd prior to the saleWith a number of replicas of these cars becoming available, it's important to remember that this is the 'real deal' and like anything with genuine Bond movie provenance, there will always be a ready market. In 1962, over a winning hand of Chemin-de-Fer, a secret agent introduced himself and twenty-five films later he needs no introduction. By the third film, 1964’s Goldfinger, the franchise had found its footing and 007 his car, the Aston Martin DB5. The title song’s opening chorus “Goldfinger, He's the man, the man with the Midas touch” as belted out by Shirley Bassey, is relevant today as it can be argued that any car featured in the long-running film series has the “Midas touch”. Values of the Aston Martin DB5 have skyrocketed since the re-introduction of the model in Daniel Craig’s first outing as James Bond in 2006’s Casino Royale. It had a starring role in 2012’s Skyfall and featured in the closing credits of the 2015 film Spectre.Sam Mendes, the director of both Skyfall and Spectre wanted a spectacular snow chase scene and turned to Jaguar Land Rover to assist. With the standard Land Rover 110 Defender deemed a bit too bland for a baddy’s getaway car they turned to leading Land Rover modifiers, Bowler. The firm transformed 10 standard production, Santorini Black, crew-cab 110s into the SVX Concept or Spectre Defender. The cars featured huge 37-inch tyres, heavy-duty roll cages plus toughened suspensions with rose joints and Bilstein rally dampers. A hydraulic handbrake was installed, and its lever repositioned. The engine was tuned to give 180 bhp and Recaro seats fitted. The Land Rovers fell into two categories for the chase sequence, high-speed 'getaway' road cars and low-speed snow cars. This particular Land Rover was developed for the snow scene and given the way in which some of these cars were used during filming, it is unsurprising that not all survived intact with three cars out of the original ten apparently destroyed. This particular car enjoyed the most spectacular demise of all, ending up being rolled into a ball by Bond's wingless Britten-Norman Islander as it emerged from the barn still travelling at speed prior to the aircraft gently T-boning the following Range Rover containing the female lead, Léa Seydoux. It was initially assumed that the Defender was damaged beyond repair but apparently not, as when it was returned to Bowlers, they felt that the damage was lighter than it appeared and, £46,000 later, it's back as "good as new". It has still only covered 35 miles and was UK registered this year with the fabulously appropriate registration 'A007 SVX'. It will be MOT tested prior to the sale. There are a number of replica Spectre Defenders available on the market but, that's what they are, replicas and what we have here is the 'real deal' on offer at 'No Reserve' and like anything with genuine Bond movie provenance, there will always be a ready market. Sympathetically restored a few years ago and only lightly used since, this is a superb example of the 'game-changing' Mk1 Twin Cam.This original, road-specification Twin Cam dates from early 1968 and, unusually, was purchased new for road useIt's classically finished in Ermine White with a black interiorRestored in the 1980s by a previous owner, retaining its original AVO Type-49 bodyshell and utilising as many of the original parts as possibleThe quality of the restoration can be judged by the car's subsequent success in RS Owners' Club Concours events With our late vendor for the past seven years in his private collectionAccompanied by some old MOT Certificates, a current one valid until August 2022, a DVLA print-out of previous owners, a period workshop manual and an Owners' HandbookIt's not often that a Mk 1 Twin-Cam of this quality becomes available, a rare chance to own a piece of Ford competition-inspired history. The arrival of the Escort Twin Cam at the start of 1968 marked the second phase of Ford UK's production-car based competitions programme that had commenced with the Lotus Cortina. The latter had used the Ford-based 1.6-litre Lotus Twin Cam engine to good effect, and combining this unit with the smaller and lighter Escort bodyshell would prove to be an inspired move. Reputedly, Ford's Competitions Manager, Henry Taylor, had seen a prototype Escort being tested and recognised its potential.A feasibility study commenced at the Competitions Department's Boreham factory in March 1967, which proved that although the list of modifications required to install the bulky Twin Cam engine and 2000E gearbox was a lengthy one, the transplant was possible. The project duly got the 'green light' and a dedicated Twin Cam production line was set up at Ford's Halewood plant on Merseyside where the cars were assembled by a hand-picked team using the stronger, export-specification Escort two-door bodyshell. Production proper got underway in the spring of 1968 after the first 25 Twin Cams had been assembled at Boreham. Group 3 homologation (500 units built) was achieved in March '68 and apparently, Group 2 (1,000 units) in May, although there may have been some 'artistic licence' with this as it's now clear that Twin Cam production totalled 883 units.Competition success had been the Twin Cam's 'raison d'etre' and Ford's new baby was soon delivering the goods. A pair of the Boreham-built Twin Cams dominated the televised Croft rallycross meeting in February 1968, demonstrating its potential to an audience of millions, while the car's first major international success was achieved during March when Ove Andersson and John Davenport finished 3rd in the San Remo Rally. The Twin Cam's first outright win was achieved by Roger Clark in the Circuit of Ireland Rally at Easter. Despite a short works career that ended in 1971, the Escort Twin Cam won the World Rally 'Championship for Makes' twice, in 1968 and '69, and helped the Alan Mann Racing-entered Frank Gardner take the British Touring Car Championship in '68. This original, road-specification Twin Cam is an early 1968 example finished in Ermine White (nearly all Twin Cams were) with a black interior and, unusually, it was purchased new for road use. It was restored in the 1980s by a previous owner, retaining its original AVO Type-49 bodyshell and utilising as many of the original parts as possible, and has covered very few miles since. The quality of the restoration can be judged by the fact that XGW 3G placed 2nd in the 2001 RS Owners' Club Concours event at Lightwater Valley in Yorkshire and is well known to the AVO Owners Club. The coachwork, paintwork, engine, gearbox and interior are reported to all be in "very good" condition. We have driven the car and can confirm that it drives superbly with no obvious faults and the 1600 twin cam still delivers plenty of power accompanied by that distinctive engine note that so characterises the 'Twink'.The car has been cossetted in our much respected late vendor's private collection for the last seven years and is supplied with a number of old MOT Certificates, a current one valid until August '22, a DVLA print-out of previous owners, a period workshop manual and a reproduction Owners' Handbook. It's ready to go and presents really well in the metal. It's not often that a Mk 1 Twin-Cam of this quality, properly restored and with good provenance, comes onto the open market and, with prices continuing to climb, this is a rare chance to own a piece of Ford competition-inspired history. A special opportunity to acquire this remarkable one-off designed by Ant Anstead and his team at Dowsetts Classic Cars.Dowsetts Classic Car Company is the new trading name of the company formerly known as Evanta whose superbly built creations we have been privileged to offer in the pastThe Comet is built around a steel spaceframe chassis which is clothed in GRP reinforced with Kevlar to create a shell that is strong yet lightIts unique looks echo the classic lines of sports racers from the fifties and early sixties without becoming a pastiche of any one modelThey are entirely bespoke enabling potential owners to create exactly what they wantComet 02, on offer from its first owner, is powered by a General Motors LS3 V8, coupled to a Tremec 5-speed gearbox and a limited-slip differentialIt's finished in Porsche Crayon Grey, not an obvious choice for an evocative 6-litre fifties-style sports car but in execution, truly successfulIt sits on a set of alloy wheels that, like everything else about this remarkable car, are Dowsetts-designed and unique in the proper sense of the wordClad in red quilted leather, the car's interior reflects this same design philosophy and every nook and cranny appears to have been thought about and created to be special, and it is. Full harnesses, white-faced dials, a Moto-Lita wheel, turned aluminium stubby short-throw gear lever, satin-finished stainless details and embossed leather. Really impressiveWhilst Ant was naturally focussed on developing the car's dynamics, handling and road-holding etc., our vendor planned on using the car regularly so spec'd it with air-conditioning, Sat-Nav, a radio and a reversing-camera Having covered only 2,500 miles, a recent back injury means that our vendor sadly must now part with '02It's very sensibly guided and is now available at around half its build costHere at Silverstone Auctions we are pleased to have been able to help Ant Anstead and his passionate team at Evanta bring some of their fabulous fifties and sixties Aston Martin re-creations to the market. Evanta has recently morphed into the Dowsetts Classic Car Company and now stands proudly on its own design ethos building unique sports and GT cars, whilst still capturing the essence of the 1950s and ‘60s.Their current project is the Comet which, like other Dowsett models, is built around a bespoke steel spaceframe chassis. This is then clothed in GRP reinforced with Kevlar to create a shell which is strong yet light and, importantly, is suitable for limited production runs where tooling might otherwise be prohibitive. That said, it’s not a simple process, taking over 50 different mould tools to make the panels for a single Comet. The car’s shape is unique, in the proper sense of the word, but most viewers familiar with classic cars will identify references and styling cues that could well have come from legendary sports cars of the period, however, that was not intentional. Dowsetts’ Darren Collins comments “There are bound to be certain similarities. If you’re taking inspiration from a particular era, there are only so many ways in which it can be done. We’ve created something new, but there are clear nods to the era it evokes.” The second production car, Comet 02, on offer here from its first owner, is powered by a General Motors LS3 V8, coupled to a Tremec 5-speed gearbox and a limited-slip differential. It's finished in Porsche Crayon Grey, not an obvious choice for an evocative 6-litre fifties-style sports car but in execution, truly successful and it sits on a set of alloy wheels that, like everything else about this remarkable car, are Dowsetts-designed. Clad in red quilted leather, the car's interior reflects this same design philosophy and every nook and cranny appears to have been thought about and created to be special, and it is. Full harnesses, white-faced dials, a Moto-Lita wheel, turned aluminium stubby short-throw gear lever, satin-finished stainless details and embossed leather. These cars are totally bespoke and whilst one owner may prefer a hard-edged Mille Miglia-style sports racer with no creature comforts, the buyer of ‘02’ planned on using the car regularly so spec'd it with air-conditioning, Sat-Nav, a radio and a reversing-camera. He was only able to enjoy some 2,500 miles in 02 before a recent back injury makes driving it really difficult. He has asked us to include a few words.“As I explained I got involved with Ant Anstead over four years ago and on visiting his workshop spotted the Barchetta (open top early version of the Comet) and fell in love with it. Ant had by then started work on the Comet and I agreed to buy number two – the first having already been purchased off plan by another client and is now in America with Ant who is trying to fit an electric motor in it so mine is still the only road going Comet in the world! The car is basically the dream car of Ant, mixing an Aston Martin front with a Ferrari back and some Lotus in the middle. Constructed much like the original AC Cobras squeezing a huge 6.2-litre Chevy engine into a bespoke, hand-built lightweight body. I spent many happy hours up at the workshop watching the car come together and worked with Ant and his team to specify some of the “luxury” additions not previously planned for the car (air conditioning, radio, sat.nav. and reverse camera) Ant looking to focus more on the performance and the track cred aspects of the car which I am pleased to say he achieved and then some! I have some personal photos of the build process for anyone interested and Dowsetts can provide more.I took delivery of the car after it had finished full road testing back in December 2018 but shortly after I injured my back requiring surgery. My back is now okay but I find the Comet too low and with a fixed seat I just cannot get comfortable and so have come to the difficult and sad decision to sell the car and let someone else enjoy it.”The Comet will be available for viewing prior to our NEC sale and we strongly urge interested parties to come and have a close look at this remarkable motor car.Click here for more details and images
Razor-sharp styling, mid-mounted high-performance V6 and one of only 300 right-hand drive examples.UK-supplied, RHD Merak SS, one of the very last built and indicating just 63,248km (39,300 miles)One of the most striking car designs of the 70s, beautifully presented in Giallo with a light tan leather interiorA late matching numbers SS benefitting from updates including lightweight body, revised motor with 220bhp and improved brakesAccompanied by a comprehensive history file including the Maserati Certificate of Origin and many invoices for maintenance over the yearsOffered from 7 years private ownership with substantial investment to lift the Maserati to its current excellent condition with supporting invoices on fileRarely do right-hand drive examples come to market, especially so well maintained and at such a sensible guideProfessional images and a short video to follow.Offered here is a lovely, privately owned, UK-supplied, matching numbers Merak SS indicating just 63,258km (39,300 miles) at the time of cataloguing, finished in striking Giallo with light-tan leather seats, a black leather dashboard and black carpets and presented in excellent overall condition. This example is accompanied by a substantial history file which contains a wealth of invoices for maintenance and remedial works over the years. Most recently it's been maintained by highly regarded Italian sports car specialist Italia Autosport. Also found within the file is a Maserati Certificate of Origin, original handbook, original logbook and the current V5c.Meraks are rarely seen on British roads as, although around 300 right-drive examples were originally produced, only 50 are believed to remain in the UK and, of those, just 17 are currently road registered. This example would have been one of the very last manufactured and the SS benefits from the more powerful 220 bhp V6 engine, revised interior and improved braking system. Supplied new to Sam Speed Garages of Manchester and first registered on 1st April 1983 originally finished in 'Marrone' (metallic brown), the car was professionally re-sprayed in its current 'Giallo Ginestra' around 2001. Dry-stored correctly ever since, the exterior remains in superb order and the original interior also presents very well thanks to a more recent freshen up.Revered in period for excellent performance and decent handling, today the Merak remains highly sought after, especially in right-hand drive form ,due to low production numbers, a low survival rate and, of course, the remarkable razor-sharp 70s styling from Ital Design. Described as 'on-the-button', from 7-years private ownership and offered at a realistic guide, this is a great opportunity.SpecificationMake: MASERATIModel: MERAKYear: 1983Chassis Number: AM122A657Registration Number: YNE 120YTransmission: ManualEngine Number: AM122A657 Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 63248 KMMake: RHDInterior Colour: CreamClick here for more details and images
A nicely restored Series 3 Coupe upgraded with Fuel Injection and a Getrag 5-speed gearbox.Built on 16/12/1970 and delivered to San Mateo, California 31/01/1971Returned to the UK in 2009 and was first registered here on 21/10/2009Subject to a body-off restoration, right-hand drive conversion and mechanical rebuild by a marque specialist prior to our vendor's purchase around seven years ago. The specialist provided a complete photographic record of the workRefinished in its original British Racing Green with a black interior, however, since his purchase the interior has been completely retrimmed in light tan to a very high standard and looks fabulousMajor upgrades include Fuel Injection (replacing the carburettors), a Getrag 5-speed gearbox and a stainless-steel exhaustCurrent indicated mileage is 52,830. Good history from the last 20 years but little priorA decade after the original Jaguar E-type arrived, the design progressively matured through 1971 with the introduction of the Series 3. Designed to showcase the new smooth and torquey 5.3-litre engine, originally developed for Le Mans, the Series 3 cars were available as a 'Roadster' (convertible) or a '2+2' Coupe. The Series 3 is easily identifiable by its large cross-slatted front grille, flared wheel arches, wider tyres, a larger bonnet bulge, updated bumpers, four exhaust tips, and a badge on the rear that proclaims it to be a V12. It also featured uprated brakes, power steering as standard and a large horizontal scoop added to the underside of the bonnet to assist with cooling. The interior was entirely new in the V12, with more comfortable seating, stylish new door panels and a smaller, dished and leather-rimmed steering wheel. Being slightly larger and altogether much softer in nature, the E-type in Series 3 form had lost the wildness of its youth but gained the long-legged touring profile, to which it was arguably better suited. This lovely Series 3 Coupé began life on the 16th December in left-hand drive and was shipped to Burlingame British Cars Inc.,65 California Drive, Burlingame, CA 94010 and onwards to its first owner, Howard Engelsher of 22 N. San Mateo Drive, San Mateo, CA 94401. The car returned from the US in 2009 and was registered as DDG 962J on 21/10/2009.Shortly afterwards it was subject to a body-off restoration, right-hand drive conversion and mechanical rebuild by a marque specialist who provided a complete photographic record of the work. The Jaguar was refinished in its original BRG and, at that point, had a Black interior. We understand that its original engine had been replaced by another of the correct type. It has been converted to fuel injection replacing the problematic Strombergs and the gearbox has been changed to a Getrag 5-speed unit, a common upgrade offering greater flexibility and economy. Our vendor purchased the car around seven years ago and commissioned a full interior retrim in Light Tan leather and the result is very impressive. The headlining was replaced at the same time. The combination of dark green paintwork, immaculate tan interior and gleaming chrome wire wheels really suits the Coupe's distinctive profile. The current indicated mileage is 52,830 but, naturally, this is not warranted as, although our vendor has lots of recent history, there is very little from its days in the US. However, that's fairly academic as the E-type has been fully rebuilt, retrimmed and regularly serviced and maintained. With the benefit of fuel injection and the 5-speed gearbox, this sporting +2 is both useful and eminently usable and appears very sensibly guided.SpecificationMake: JAGUARModel: E-TYPE SERIES 3 V12 2+2 FIXED HEAD COUPEYear: 1970Chassis Number: 1S70415Registration Number: DDG 962JTransmission: ManualEngine Number: 8S84212SB Drive Side: Right-hand DriveOdometer Reading: 52830 MilesMake: RHDInterior Colour: Tan leatherClick here for more details and images
Recently completed, no-expense spared restoration and it shows. With the Mk 2, the rear suspension was re-engineered to use reversed lower wishbones and Rotoflex driveshaft couplings, revolutionising the Mk 1's somewhat wayward handling Family owned from new being purchased from Otterspool Motors, Liverpool in November 1969 The first owner, Jack Coburn Witherop, was a landscape painter of some repute exhibiting at The National Gallery, The Royal Academy as well as further afield in America and South Africa Recent exhaustive restoration by Specialised Automotive Services (SAS) of Sabden in Lancashire whose portfolio covers Aston Martin, Lamborghini and Ferrari through to repainting current McLaren supercarsThe rebuild was carried out between 2008 and 2016 with final finishes and adjustments completed in 2018 and 2019. Rebuild costs amount to some £97,000 !!! There will be few, if any other GT6s anywhere in the world that have such provenance, pedigree and a rebuild of such quality. This stunning GT6 Mk 2, splendidly presented in Damson, was bought new by Jack Coburn Witherop on 27th Nov 1969 from Otterspool Motors, Liverpool, who were Standard Triumph Dealers at the time and, incredibly, remains within the same family to this very day. Jack Coburn Witherop was a landscape painter of some repute, exhibiting at the National Gallery and the Royal Academy, and the Triumph was his pride and joy being pressed into service on a regular basis and maintained regardless of cost until ill health curtailed his driving days. At that point, the car was passed onto his brother, Arthur, in 1980, who in turn bequeathed it to his grandson, the present owner, in January 1991. Due to financial constraints and pressures of work as a young oral surgeon, the car was stored until family time and resources were sufficient to justify a complete restoration. Commencing in 2008 in the hands of Dave Warburton, Specialised Automotive Services (SAS) Sabden, Lancashire, a prolonged no-expense-spared rebuild followed, ‘’If it was going to be done, it was to be done right’’ and indeed some eight years later there was light at the end of the tunnel with this breathtaking GT6 emerging as it stands today. Invoices provide an insight into circa £97,000 of expenditure and what must surely be one of the finest examples to exist today. Completed to the very highest of standards from the acid dipped chassis to the balanced engine with fast road cam, to stainless manifold and exhaust, rebuilt gearbox, uprated cooling system, poly-bushed suspension, high torque starter and alternator, the list goes on. For safety a bolt-in roll cage was added along side period style Corbeau seats, however, with the original seats remaining with the car, these additions can be very easily be reversed. An incredible opportunity to acquire one of Audi's Super Saloons with just 217 miles from new.Audi's ultimate A4, the RS4, is powered by 4.2-litre V8 engine generating 414bhp. With 60mph arriving in less than five seconds accompanied by a howling soundtrack from the FSI engine and its four exhaust pipes, driving one is an intoxicating experience This remarkable example has been owned and stored by its first owner and his father for most of its life and has covered a warranted 217 milesFinished in Mugello Blue, a striking deep mineral blue that varies in intensity with the lightClassic RS cockpit in black, immensely comfortable yet totally functionalThe only evidence of its long period of storage is some, almost imperceptible, pitting of some of the external chrome. Our vendor has replaced the front grille (original with the car) and has new badging yet to be fitted. Our advice was not to fit the badging as keeping the 217-mile car absolutely original is important but the parts are with the car should the new owner want to fit themInspected by Audi, it will come to the sale in almost the same condition as it was presented to its first keeper nearly 15 years agoWith many earlier eighties and nineties performance Audis now reaching stratospheric values, where do we see this car?Offered at No Reserve, this is an opportunity to acquire possibly the lowest mileage RS4 in the UK, if not worldwide. The B7 RS4 is an almost complete departure from previous Audi RS models as it was initially available as a four-door saloon with the Avant Estate and the Cabriolet arriving later unlike the previous RS4 and RS2 which were available exclusively as Avants. In production between 2006-2008, the B7 was constructed from fully galvanised steel in a monocoque design with the RS4 benefiting from lightweight Aluminium front wings and bonnet. Despite the wide flared arches, large air intakes and low and purposeful stance, the RS4 is remarkably slippery with a class-leading drag-coefficient (Cd) of .31.The engine of the B7 RS4 is based on the existing all-alloy 4,163cc V8 from the B6 S4 and shares many parts, and Fuel Stratified Injection with the 4.2 FSI V8 in the Q7. It produces 414bhp at 7,800rpm and this power is fed through a Getrag 6-speed manual gearbox and out to all four wheels with the aid of Audi’s trademark ‘Quattro’ permanent four-wheel drive system with a 'default' 40:60 front-to-rear torque split. It’s fitted as standard with ‘Dynamic Ride Control’ (DRC), a purely mechanical system that hydraulically links diagonally opposite dampers with valves to control the passage of fluid according to the forces acting on the wheels. This offers the suppleness in a straight line, tautness in corners, and swift fluid progress that you would expect from a quick modern Audi but, surprisingly, generates a level of driver involvement that’s at BMW level.Dating from 2007, this remarkable RS4 has been owned and stored by its first owner and his father for most of its life and has covered a warranted 217 miles. It’s finished in Mugello Blue, a striking deep mineral blue that varies in intensity with the light and the cockpit is classic Audi RS in Black, immensely comfortable yet totally functional. The only evidence of its long period of storage is some, almost imperceptible, pitting of some of the external chrome. Our vendor has now decided to offer the Audi for sale and was keen to present it in showroom condition, replacing the front grille (the original remains with the car) and has new badging yet to be fitted. Our advice was not to fit the badging as keeping the 217-mile car absolutely original is important in terms of rarity and consequently value but the parts are with the car should the new owner decide to return the car to the road and drive around in, what would effectively be, a ‘new’ 2007 RS4.It has recently been iClick here for more details and images
An early RS500 showing just 23,222 miles from new with a detailed history file and recent Paul Linfoot report.Tickford build sheets confirm this car as #215 out of 500 and first registered on the 3rd August 1987The detailed history file includes well stamped service book, numerous MOTs, historical invoices. There are two condition reports from 1991 and 2021Compiled by noted RS 500 expert Paul Linfoot, the 2021 condition report states the boost gauge is present and only fitted to early carsIt also notes that the mileage of 23,222 (atoc) is consistent with the interior, radio, gear knob and original exhaust systemThe car was professionally painted in 2015 and the panels are straight with no signs of rust according to the report which is available pre-auction via emailThe report is also complimentary of the shut lines as we note that the car sustained light damage to the front in its early life and is registered as an insurance loss, damaged and repairedWe welcome any inspection of this beautiful car and its impressive leather bound history file. The Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500 was announced in July 1987 and had a mechanically uprated Cosworth engine (more similar to the one to be used in competition), with power boosted to 224bhp, upgraded brakes, modified bodywork and the cachet of being hand-assembled. Just 500 three-door Sierra Cosworths were sent to Aston Martin Tickford for conversion to the RS500, and copy build sheets confirm that this car was number 215.First registered on the 3rd August 1987 as “E321 EPD” the well stamped service book supplied in the incredibly detailed history file shows periodic services consistent with incremental mileage increases and corresponds to the historical MOTs. A condition report dated 31st October 1991 written by Boddington, Mee Consulting Automotive Engineers of Nottingham shows the odometer reading as 2,972 miles and notes that there is slight damage to the N/S/F corner front bumper mounting and “no sign of major accident damage”. With no other reference in the history file to any further accident damage it appears that the 1991 report accounts for why the car appears on some online car history check websites as “repaired and inspected after being previously written off”. It would also be consistent with the low values of the model in the early 1990s and why the insurance loss adjuster may have been stricter with light damage. The car is offered from a small Ford collection and upon inspection we noted that the ECU mounted behind the “RS” panel on the dashboard appears to be the original with the Morrelli stickers covering the screw holes free of tampering. The interior is wholly consistent of a car of this mileage and the rear parcel shelf is “bowed”, a common RS500 characteristic, further confirms the interior’s originality and the first aid kit can be found in the usual spot. The car was professionally repainted in 2015 and presents well today retaining a deep gloss shine. The engine bay was attended to at the same time by respected RS specialist Paul Linfoot who replaced the wing sealer to the replacement wing(s) and fitted new brackets, bolts and screws where appropriate.Paul Linfoot compiled a report on the 17th October 2021, copies of which can be emailed to interested parties pre-auction, and we have, with Paul’s permission, reproduced some excerpts here, which of course can be read in context within the full written report:“The car carries all its correct RS500 unique parts that were fitted during its conversion. The original RS500 bumpers/spoilers and splitters are all in very good condition and fit correctly.”“The interior is in very good condition and consistent with the car's low miles of 23,222, with its original Ford stereo and amplifier fitted and working. The seats and door cards are all correct and in good condition. The original leather gear knob is also present and in good condition, these are often replaced as they didn't wear very well.”“The exterior of the car presents very well, its shut lines are all how they should be and the panels are straight and rust free…The correct pin stripe and (RS500) badge is proudly on display on the front wings and rear tailgate.”“The underside looks original and untouched but solid and again the correct RS500 rear beam sits in place along with an original exhaust system that are usually replaced in favour of a modern stainless steel system.”In relation to the car’s insurance registry status Paul said “It is my opinion that on older cars this is less important and any vehicle should be valued on its present overall condition rather than what may have happened while the car’s value was at its lowest.”We conclude that this car, whilst estimated to reflect it’s damaged-repaired status, should be judged on its current condition, superb history and low mileage. A rather special F1 Spider in Bianco with substantial upgrades. An amazing UK-supplied, right-hand drive F1 gearbox example that’s been extensively upgradedUpgrades include a Stradale gearbox, engine re-map, performance exhaust with 'De-Cat' pipes, F430 alloy wheels, aluminium brake calipers etcNow finished in Bianco with full black leather and showing 40,900 milesGood history file including all the usual manuals and invoices detailing recent expenditureOffered at a guide that seems great value for money when you consider the investment made into this carThe 360 Spider is Ferrari's twentieth road-going convertible and the 360 was always designed with a Spider variant in mind. Since removing the roof of a coupé reduces the torsional rigidity, the 360 was built for strength in other areas and Ferrari designers strengthened the sills, stiffened the front of the floor pan, and redesigned the windscreen frame. The rear bulkhead had to be stiffened to cut out engine noise from the cabin. The convertible's necessary dynamic rigidity is provided by additional side reinforcements and a cross brace in front of the engine. Passenger safety is ensured by a strengthened windscreen frame and roll bars. The use of light aluminium throughout results in the Spider weighing in only 60 kg (130 lb) heavier than the coupé.Offered here is an amazing UK-supplied, right-hand drive F1 gearbox example that’s been extensively upgraded. Upgrades include a Stradale gearbox, engine re-map, performance exhaust with 'De-Cat' pipes, F430 alloy wheels, aluminium brake calipers etc. During the upgrade process, the decision was taken to finish the car in Bianco which is complemented by a full black leather interior and the odometer now reads 40,900 miles. There are numerous invoices on file detailing the extensive work and expenditure this particular 360 has had lavished on it over the years. A UK-market (C16) supplied ‘Sport’ model, in a great colour combination with good history. On offer from the Estate of the late David Ham, the very well-respected Jaguar enthusiast and gentleman racerSought-after UK ‘Sport’ model which came with Fuchs alloys, front lip spoiler, 'whale-tail' rear spoiler, Bilstein Sport shock absorbers and Sports seats, plus spec’d with a sunroof, rear wiper and passenger wing mirrorRecipient of a top-end engine rebuild within the last 10 years, accompanied by lots of paperwork for maintenance and parts, supporting the indicated 102,000 miles (still just 2,500 per year)Only two owners in the last 27 years, previous owner kept the car 16 yearsIn rare Wine Red Metallic paintwork with a Pasha fabric interiorA fantastic entry into the enjoyable world of 911 ownership. The arrival of the 3.0-litre 911 SC in the 1978 model line-up brought some semblance of order to the Porsche range after the mid-seventies. The middle of this decade was a period epitomised by the once-maligned "impact or big bumper' models, and when launched, the SC looked modern, clean and fresh in comparison to the dated overall appearance of the original 911, now over a decade old. With new and innovative design features like the reflective red strip between the tail-lights with PORSCHE capitalised across it, the '78 cars looked altogether sharper.According to Porsche Club GB, the 911 SC is a "landmark 911" because it was the first Porsche model developed to appeal to a wider market than just existing 911 enthusiasts. It is the model that launched the 911's reputation for excellent durability and build quality. Two factors above all else contributed to that reputation - the use from 1976 of a fully zinc coated steel bodyshell and the adoption of a normally aspirated version of the Turbo's more robust 3.0-litre aluminium engine. The earlier 2.7-litre unit had been recognised as being at the limit of its development and the new Type 930 engine reset the design parameters for the flat-6's development potential. The move to an aluminium engine was to regain case reliability, something missing for many years with magnesium. Combined with the well-proven Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection and a 5-speed 915 gearbox it became a very flexible, torquey powerplant. Originally power output was 180bhp, later 188bhp and then by MY 1980 it was increased to 204bhp (with improvements in economy), good for 146 mph.In 1984, due to enduring demand for the 911 (the 928 still having made no impact on 911 sales) the SC’s replacement, the 911 3.2 Carrera, was introduced, but not before SC sales totalled a remarkable 58,914 cars. The car presented here is a UK-supplied RHD 1980 Porsche 911 SC Coupe. It is a UK ‘Sport’ model, this being the most sought-after variant with the larger Fuchs alloys, front lip spoiler, 'whale-tail' rear spoiler, Bilstein Sport shock absorbers and Sports seats. This particular car was also spec'd with the options of a sunroof, rear windscreen wiper and passenger wing mirror.According to our vendor, the car has had just two owners in the last 27 years, being bought by David Ham in 2012; and knowing good cars like he did, this example is likely to have many redeeming qualities. It has benefited from a top-end rebuild and there is lots of evidence of servicing/maintenance over the years. There are some small areas of minor corrosion (below o/s headlight, along seam between scuttle and o/s front wing and small bits in door shuts) but the important areas, we are informed, are all sound.Frequently offered at a tempting guide price, the SC model has been somewhat of a ‘sleeper’ 911 but is now tipped by many to gain the recognition it deserves, particularly the well-specified 'Sport'. Whilst this classic 911 would benefit from some light cosmetic attention, it could undoubtedly be enjoyed as it is, with many years of classic 911 motoring ahead of it. Delightfully presented 280SL 'Pagoda' from long-term ownership.Original UK RHD car with an extensive history file including nearly 40 older MOT Certificates and detailed service records supporting the indicated mileage of 84,754With its last owner for almost 24 years, during which time the service history was fastidiously maintained including an engine and gearbox rebuild by renowned specialistsClassically presented in Midnight Blue with a matching factory hardtop and recently renewed navy blue soft topRecent new interior in beige which included a rear seat option being fittedFreshly serviced including plugs, leads, points and tappets. All the qualities that made Pagodas so desirable in their heyday remain today - chic styling, Teutonic build quality, and predictable handlingThe Mercedes-Benz 280SL 'Pagoda' (W113) was introduced in December 1967 and continued in production through until February 1971 before being replaced by its successor, the entirely new and substantially heavier R107 350SL. Over the years, the W113 had quietly evolved from a nimble 'sports car' into a comfortable 'Grand Tourer' and was usually equipped with four-speed automatic transmission and air conditioning. The final evolution of the Pagoda was the 280SL, launched in November 1967 with a host of technical improvements, and is now seen as the most refined iteration of the W113 Series with its robust new seven-bearing, 2778cc, M130 engine developing 170bhp and perfectly suiting the automatic transmission. By the time production ceased in March 1971, some 23,885 had been made making the 280SL the most popular of all W113 variants. The fabulous 280SL on offer here is an original, UK-supplied right-hand drive car elegantly presented in Midnight Blue with a matching factory hardtop and recently renewed Navy Blue soft top. The interior has recently been superbly retrimmed in Cream leather with Light Biscuit carpets piped in cream and, unusually, it's been fitted with a rear seat (California-style) where the parcel shelf was.First registered in 1968, it has been enjoyed by just three owners prior to our vendor who acquired the Mercedes in 1998 and during those 23 years has fastidiously maintained it including an engine and gearbox rebuild by well-regarded specialists. The current indicated mileage of 84,574 is supported by detailed service records and nearly 40 older MOT Certificates. We understand that it's recently been serviced including plugs, leads, points and tappets.
