Although very presentable it would benefit from a light clean. Careful examination of the surface shows scratching and abrasions in line with the working practice of the artist. It has it's original frame.

Newlyn School A Summer Pastime Oil on canvas, 76.5 x 56cmCataloguer's NoteWe believe this painting portrays the end of Newlyn Harbour wall, facing Penzance, with St Michael's Mount just out of view. We also see a resemblance between the boy in this painting and the one depicted in Stanhope Forbes's Chadding in Mount's Bay. This oil, reminiscent of the work of the best of the Newlyn artists, has been lined and cleaned, but under UV light there are few signs of overpainting. Our vendor tells us that it was bought in these rooms decades ago.
Frederick Leslie KENETT (1924-2012) From The Parthenon Marble Sculptures; Sculptures of A Group of Racing Horses, Two reclining Greek Figures, The Standing figure of a Greek Man and The Study of The Head of A Horse. Four albumen prints of sculpture mounted on board, each studio stamped to verso, each image approximately 39 x 50cm, mount size approximately 43 x 54cm. (4)Frederick Kenett is one of the most important and yet undervalued postwar British artists of the twentieth century. He was invited by the Egyptian government in the sixties to photograph the Tomb and artefacts of Tutankhamen*, and was the first person to photograph the treasures in the tomb housed in the museum in Cairo. He travelled widely in Europe photographing classical scenes and sculptures in Spain, France, Italy, Germany and Holland often negotiating with governments. In the early sixties Kenett befriended Henry Moore and instructed Moore on Photography in return Moore helped Kenett by instructing him on the methods and techniques around sculpting. It was during the early sixties that both Moore and Kennet toured together visiting France and the low countries. Following their time together and from the mid sixties Kenett transferred his skills to sculpture and started producing his own work. Comparing both the sculptures of Moore and Kenett it is clear to see the influence that Moore had on Kenett. Frederick Kenett has been described as ‘Unquestionably the greatest photographer of Sculpture in the World who himself became a scuplture’. The Listener, T.G Rosenthal* Sunday Times Colour Magazine Book Review 1963 Acquired by the present owner from the artists estate shortly after the artists passing in 2012. Areas of light discoloration can be found on a number of the mounts (mainly to the backs), a number of bumps can also be found to the corners. Other than this the prints are in good condition.
John OPIE (1761-1807) Mother and Child Oil on canvas, 124 x 95cm, 138 x 110cm framed. This painting has had light restoration, probably pre-war. Under UV light, one can see a little filling of craquelure and other minor work. It is generally stable but there are some minor losses and one small tear.

(8)Frederick Kenett is one of the most important and yet undervalued postwar British artists of the twentieth century. The Listener, T.G Rosenthal* Sunday Times Colour Magazine Book Review 1963 Acquired by the present owner from the artists estate shortly after the artists passing in 2012. Some very light yellowing can be found in a number of the corners, this can be seen in the original images. But nothing that deters from the overall appeal of the charming prints. Other than this they are in excellent condition.
Eric SLATER (1896-1963) Tregenna Castle Coloured woodcut, signed and titled, 30x40cm.Eric Slater was an artist who produced more than 30 colour woodcuts between 1926 and the outbreak of the Second World War.Many depict scenes near his home in Seaford, East Sussex, where he lived for most of his adult life. Eric moved with his mother and grandmother to Sussex where he studied at The Hastings School of Art. He was probably taught how to make woodcuts by Arthur Rigden Read (1879-1955) who had been to Japan to study oriental woodcut techniques used by European printmakers from the 1890s. European woodcuts, less formal than Japanese woodcuts, were marketed as affordable art for ordinary homes.Eric died in obscurity with no mention of his artistic talents within the solicitor's notice, but is highly collected and appreciated since. Some light cockling to the paper and a mark to the mount, but otherwise in good condition.
