A military flintlock musket engraved Limbery, Birmingham proof marks, 20 bore, full stock with ring twist and turn bayonet, steel lock, brass furniture and shaped butt plate, steel ramrod, upper left of barrel engraved 'Carmarthen. M.', 53in. (134.6cm.) long.* Condition: Bright steel barrel now with rust staining to top side and minor pitting, the Carmarthen 'M' more likely to be 'IVI', cleaned wooden stock with small number of worm holes (6) and split at front RHS at ram rod tube entry, brass trigger guard over cleaned with loss of definition to acorn finial, 'E' over '4' to top of brass heel butt plate, lock working well with half cock and full cock however one lock retaining screw loose with threads flattened and worn, crossed sceptre proof marks with 'SI' engraved between both marks, lock marked with crown over the Y of Limbery with possible '2' understamp, lock with minor light pitting, bayonet with minor light pitting to some areas with age staining overall.

(24.7cm.).* Condition: 5" Damascus browned octagonal barrel rust stained overall with age marks and minor light pitting, top flat engraved "Bath", engraved blued trigger guard with rust stains to inside and to a lesser extent to the exterior, engraving to trigger guard pineapple finial is crisp and clear, Stock with no splits but minor dents overall, small point checkering sharp, half cock safety working and action crisp.

One large and one small coconut knife with steel blades and hardwood handles and sheaths, 20th century, the larger 38cm long, together with a long Perang or Borneo jungle knife and wooden sheath, 65cm long, (3) The coconut knives were made by the inhabitants of the Cocos Keeling Islands, the steel for the blades believed to have come from the wreck of the German Light Curser 'Emden' which was beached on the islands in November 1914. Provenance: The two coconut knives were presented to Flt. Lt. R L Howland upon his departure from the Allied Air Force Base on the Cocos Keeling Islands in the second World War.
