A contemporary Dennis Farrell vessel "Derelict Pier 2", in red earthenware blended with stoneware crank clays and engobes, over-painted, in the style of a painting on canvas, with a depiction of a desolate and abstract coastal landscape as viewed from a dilapidated pier, enhanced heavenwards by a rugged wavelike sgraffito skyline, 30.5 cm, with 2018 Red Barn Gallery purchase invoice and maker's biography. [Dennis was born in Liverpool in 1949 and attended St Helens School of Art and the Polytechnic Wolverhampton where he gained a Diploma in Art & Design, Ceramics in 1971. He has been a lecturer/demonstrator for colleges and ceramic groups across the UK including St Helens School of Art and set up studios in Lancashire and West Yorkshire before moving to Shropshire in 1991 to take up a lecturing post at the University of Wolverhampton. Dennis currently lives and works in Church Stretton, Shropshire, creating "Ceramic Paintings" where he crafts sea-washed and weather-worn structures set within rural and coastal landscapes on a pottery medium echoing the passage of time and change through his layered use of light, colour and texture. He exhibits both nationally and internationally and has work in both private and public collections including: Arthur Anderson Collection of Contemporary Art; Glasgow City Art Gallery; Hansley Museum and Art Gallery of Stoke on Trent; Huddersfield Art Gallery; Lotherton Hall within Leeds City Art Gallery, and, York City Art Gallery.]

On closer inspection, light foxing is visible under UV light, although not visible to the naked eye. The page is yellowed, with stronger yellowing towards the edges of the paper.
