TENSODO HO No 160 factory painted Brass Great Northern Class R-2 2-8-8-2 and 6 axle Tender # 2047 in Black and Silver livery. A service and light clean required due to storage. Otherwise Excellent in Good Plus original separate Locomotive and Tender Boxes. The centre foam keep has been removed from the Locomotive Box.
Late 19th/ early 20th century bisque head doll impressed '53' with sleeping blue eyes, eyelashes, open mouth with four teeth, blonde wig and jointed composition body. Height 48cm. Tied in to box marked 'Vera/ Finest Quality Jointed Doll/ Made in England'. Some light flaking to paint on arms and eyelids chipped.
A mid 19th Century Grand Tour memento carved lava box decorated with figures in an interior dancing and playing musical instruments, bearing label to interior "Bought from Naples by A Hussey Esq. for Sally 1846", approx 7 cm diameter x 2 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Some light scratches to the top, some dirt and dust. Some small nicks, mainly to the edge. Metal rim slightly out of circular. Tarnished, slightly bent. Base has large split to the metal and resulting damage under, broken in two places. Various splits and damage to the metal throughout. Crack running across the base. Light scratches. Signs of gluing. General wear and tear.
A late 19th Century Japanese Meiji Period carved ivory netsuke in the form of a family of rats, the adult eating seeds, signed to base, 2.5 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Some light general wear and some dirt. The rat with his paws to his mouth has one applied black eye missing which has been coloured in with paint. The baby rat seated by the seed pod has his outer black applied eye missing, and coloured in with paint. The baby rat standing standing upon the tail also has one of its applied black eyes missing, and coloured in with paint.
A Baume & Mercier Automatic gentleman's wristwatch, number 5353249, with original leather strap, box and cardboard outer case CONDITION REPORTS Age is unknown. There is no paperwork present. Length including clasp open is approx 27.8cm, length of face including brackets for straps is approx 4.3cm, width including winding knob is approx 2.9cm. It is numbered to back "5353249" and "65651". Has light wear and tear. It is not known whether or not in working order.
A late 18th Century Bilston enamel patch box of domed form with black and white dog surmount, the base inscribed "Remember her who gives this trifle", within a stylised foliate border, 3.2 cm diameter x 3 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Some light scratches throughout. Some cracks to the enamel, mainly to the base. Dirty and dark marks throughout. General signs of wear and tear.
A pair of Edwardian Sheraton Revival satinwood and marquetry inlaid display cabinets, the crossbanded marquetry inlaid top above moulded edge and satinwood and crossbanded and marquetry inlaid frieze, to single glazed door enclosing three shelves, to plinth base (2), 76.5 cm x 122 cm CONDITION REPORTS First cabinet - Some scratches, impressed marks to the top, some losses of veneer to the back edge, various splitting. some dark spotted marks also to the back and to the top in general. Some damage to the veneer all over. Cracking, splits, losses throughout. Top interior fitted with a light, possibly some repaired damage to the top hinge. The second cabinet - some stains to the top, dark scratches, light scratches, impressed marks, veneer is becoming loose in places, some losses to the veneer, the door around the top hinge has been broken with a loss of veneer, and repaired. All over some losses to veneer, chips, scratches, etc.
SAM RABIN "Shake hands and come out fighting", study of two boxers and referee in ring, oil on board, initialled lower left, with Christopher Cole label verso, 15 cm x 20 cm CONDITION REPORTS Size visible from the front is 13cm x 18cm. The back, without removing the paper, is 15 x 20cm approx. Picture has general wear. There is a scratch from the right centre at the top near head through to the neck. There appears to be some dirt marks bottom left, and also all over, it is not known whether this intentional. Frame has light wear and tear.
MUGHAL SCHOOL "Study of a gentleman holding flag sporting a fish, while astride a horse made of the interlocking bodies of five ladies, raised on a jade green ground, with Hindu script below", oil, 22 cm diameter CONDITION REPORTS Quite a lot of craquelure and cracking to the paint. Some undulations to the surface. Picture is circular and appears to have been cut out and applied to the brown backing paper. Appears to have undergone various repairs and restoration including to some splits and tears which have also been recoloured in. Much of the green appears to have been repainted. Colours of gilding differ and appears to have been restored and with repainting. Under UV light general has a fairly milky appearance and has probably been revarnished.
A Garrard 18ct gold cufflink set, the central links with interchangeable rings in carnelian, onyx, tiger's eye, blue agate, and haematite CONDITION REPORTS All items have general wear to include light surface scratches. There is an additional black ring. There is a sticker to the top of the case and the lining has some slight marks. Date letter U, 1996 Hallmark is "G & Co". Surface scratches appear to be from general use, and are not too pronounced. Hallmarked G & Co .... 750 ...
IN THE MANNER OF C H LITTLEBOY (19TH CENTURY) "Heraldic crest featuring hippocamp and lion, surmounted by a crown, with motto Nil. Desperandum", oil on panel, unsigned, 36 cm x 46 cm CONDITION REPORTS The paintwork is crazed all over and there is some bubbling effect to the red velvet swags. There are surface scratches all over, especially to the right side and the area covering the lion. There is some flaking to the paint, especially on the right side bottom corner just below the swags. There is some loss to the gilding and wear to the other paintwork. There appears to be a hair stuck into the paint on the lower right corner of the heraldic panel, near centre. Under UV light there are two dark marks either side of the heraldic panel gilt base above the i and dum. In need of a clean. General wear and tear. The frame is battered and missing some veneer. 18TH CENTURY ENGLISH SCHOOL "Gentleman in grey wig, blue jacket, and armour breast plate", possibly Sir William Dick Baronet of Prestonfield, Edinburgh, Scotland, portrait miniature, oil on copper, unsigned, housed in a leather case, the back of the inner removeable velvet covered frame/mount bearing an inscription on paper "This miniature picture is of Sir William Dick Bt of prestonfield deceased ... immediat elder Brother to Sir Alexander Dick Bt his .... successor in the title and estate given him by his niece the Countess of Ballcarres August 3 1779" (sic), 8 cm x 6 cm CONDITION REPORTS This picture comes from a local private vendor, there is no provenance with the picture. The case leather is scratched and flaking to the top all over and especially to the hinge to the back. The silk behind the easel stand is ripped. Inside the velvet is dirty and worn to the two middle sections where it has been pressed against the miniature. The glass has small chip to the top. Under UV light through the glass the painting has a few small dark dots near the bottom of the picture and a couple of small dark dots to his hair, but otherwise the painting has an overall even slightly milky appearance. In natural light the surface of the painting has an all over textured / bobbled appearance. There is a scratch to the miniature in the right top quarter. Generally in need of a clean.
A pair of 19th Century Staffordshire porcelain figures of hounds chained with a bone at their feet, on a blue painted base, 10.1 cm x 8.5 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Both figures have wear and tear including some chips to paintwork of the nose of one dog. Various small firing faults. General wear and tear including light surface scratches.
