Housed in its original scabbard with leather belt loop and securing strap. 1st pattern blade with motto ‘Blut und Ehre!’ and reverse with Tiger Solingen makers trade mark. Leather washer between blade and cross guard still present. Some light wear to the blade. The blade measures 13 ½ cms, overall 25 ½ cms.

WW1 German Model 98/05 Sawback Mauser Bayonet, good example with two piece wooden grips, steel pommel and cross guard. Housed in its steel scabbard with the original leather bayonet frog attached with its original cloth trodel (knot) attached to the frog. Sawback swollen blade with fuller to the back edge. Blade by Simson & Co Suhl. Spine with crown over W 15 and acceptance stamp. Blade 36 ½ cms, overall 52cms. Some light surface rust to the scabbard but otherwise a good example. WW2 German Kriegsmarine Officers Dress Dagger by F W Holler Solingen, generally good example of a naval officers dagger with white celluloid grip having wire binding. Gilt brass eagle pommel top and cross guard with fouled anchor to central cartouche and press button release stud. Attached to the grip is a officers bullion dress knot / portepee. Housed in its standard brass scabbard with two hanging rings. Double edged polished blade with sailing ship etching. Makers trade mark to the base of the blade. Small area of surface staining near the tip but otherwise the blade is in good condition. Blade measures 25cms, overall 41 ½ cms. Some polishing to the exterior fittings, small crack and light scratches to the grip.

WW1 Period British Generals ‘Gor Blimey’ Peaked Cap, fine example of a privately tailored WW1 period officers service dress peaked cap in the ‘Gor Blimey’ pattern. Cap has the original cloth strap with brown painted metal circular loops. Red central felt band with fine quality bullion embroidered army generals cap insignia to the centre. Four vent holes to the rear of the cap. Interior has typical WW1 style quilted cloth circular pattern lining. Cap shows some light wear but generally is a very good example of this pattern of cap from the Great War period.
Victorian Volunteer Battalion Highland Light Infantry Officers Shoulder Belt Plate, fine example with a seeded back plate having overlay in the form of white metal facetted star with gilt metal crown above strung bugle having HLI to the centre, blank lower scroll for Volunteer battalion and elephant. Reverse with two hooks and two stud fittings. A very good example overall.

Chain stitched black on white Bann (unit) number panel to the corner of both sides for ‘8/331’. Original metal fixing rings with RZM stamps to one side. Some light stains but generally a very good example of a scarce flag. Measures 167 x 110cms.

Crowned blackened shako badge with strung bugle having 39 to the centre and strap with ‘WEST YORK RIFLES’. Black wool pom pom. Leather sweatband and crimson quilted lining to the interior. Thin leather chinstrap. Some wear and light mothing to the body of the shako. Good example.

Housed in its original leather scabbard with brass bottom chape. The leg tabs have been removed from the scabbard. Complete with the belt loop frog with the elasticated cloth being replaced by a leather strap with brass stud fitting. The name 'M.COLATO' scratched into the belt loop frog. Double edged blade with medial ridge. Some light evidence of sharpening to the edge. Blade 16 ½ cms, overall 32cms.

Queens South Africa Medal 4th Battalion the Durham Light Infantry, with two clasps, Cape Colony and South Africa 1902. Medal with impressed naming, “4410 SERJT: J. RICHARDSON DURHAM L.I.” Broach marks to the obverse of the medal, suspender and clasps have been reaffixed at a later date. Medal and both clasps confirmed on the 4th Durham Light Infantry roll.

WW2 German Army Afrikakorps (D.A.K) Pith Helmet, good example of a 2nd pattern tropical helmet in olive felt with a darker brown central band and olive leather covering to the brim. Complete with both metal helmet shield decals. Original olive leather chinstrap attached to the helmet. Helmet is complete with an original pair of WW2 dust goggles. Interior with green lining to the underside of the shell, tan leather sweatband and red felt interior. Underside of the sweatband with ink stampings. One small area of light damage to the peak but otherwise a very nice example.

Housed in its original brown leather brass mounted scabbard with two suspension rings. Polished plain blade with some light nicks to areas of the edge. Blade measures 21cms, overall 41cms.
WW2 German Kriegsmarine Harbour Pilots Flag, good large white cotton flag with central red rectangle and swastika to the centre. Complete with taped edge having machine embroidered manufactures label and rope with metal clip fitting. Top corner with inked details of the British veteran who brought the flag home as a souvenir in 1946. Some light scattered moth and a stitched repair but generally good untouched example. Measures 198 x 112cms. Flag was brought home from Germany by the vendors uncle after the war as a souvenir of his service.

Interesting WW2 Japanese Army Officers Sword Katana, blade 66.6cms, signed and dated on opposite sides of the nakago together with seki arsenal stamp, a further deep stamp, and 3 characters in red paint, pronounced gunome hamon, fair polish, surface with some minor wear and light pitting, in shin gunto mounts, in its wooden scabbard with leather combat cover. Good condition.
Victorian Royal Marines Light Infantry Officers Waist Belt Clasp, 'Royal Marines Light Infantry' within a silvered circlet, gilt centre piece with silvered Royal Crest, worn 1856-1902, the WBC was among other items belonging to Major, The Reverend, William Houghton Kings Own (Royal Lancaster) Regiment and comes direct from family, (William Houghton was born 1st June 1859 in London, he attended the Royal Military College Sandhurst in 1879 and was commissioned 14th January 1880, into the 4th Regiment of Foot (later The Kings Own (Royal Lancaster) Regiment), he appears to have spent much of his service in India, speaking Hindustani and indeed, marrying his wife Anastasia Christina at Bombay in 1894, he also served in Hong Kong and the Straights Settlements, in 1902 he attended the Coronation of King Edward VII as part of the detachment representing the Infantry of the Line, promoted Major in 1903 he retired from the Army in 1907, he presumably returned to the Colours in on the outbreak of war in 1914 though the only record we can find of this is the award of the Silver War Badge, number 383089, it being sent to North Newton Vicarage, Nr Bridgewater, Somerset, William Houghton passed away at Taunton on 16th June 1922)

Bullard, 2nd Lt., Transport Officer, 14 D.L.I.' which contains nominal roll of members of the Transport Section and their jobs, Vet, Drivers, Breakers, Farrier, etc, assorted ephemera including list of officers chargers with names and colours of each horse, C2121 Forms (Messages & Signals) with detailed notes and diagrams written on the back regarding the placement of barbed wire obstacles including man-loaded equipment scales, note from Brigade Transport Officer, 18th Infantry Brigade to Transport Officer 14 D.L.I. regarding detailing 4 men with horses or mules for transport duties in the Loos area, notes of field punishment awarded to 'Pte Fellows, H, 14488, 14 D.L.I. A Coy', (3 days C.B for disobeying G.R.O. 1032), letter to Bullard from a fellow officer dated 21/06/1917, includes some details of a trench raid, '...our last little stunt which was a complete success - Some Batt. this! Rothfield did extremely well and captured one Boche sentry at a house who he was obliged to pop in the neck before he could get him over the parapit. You must have laughed to see him roll down to our support line, Roth running like hell! I was with the M.O. but fortunately had little to do as we had but seven wounded, mostly slightly, including Bruce, and one killed...', pair of woolen puttees attributed to Bullard, Trench Map, Sheet 62c NW, River Somme, Peronne 'Trenches correct 8/1/17', scale 1:20,000, trenches marked in red including Mannheim Trench, Johannes Trench, Brasso Redoubt, Oder Trench, Koros Alley, etc, records show Lt. Frederick Ringer Bullard of 2/1st Derbyshire Yeomanry entered France on 18th October 1916 and entitled to the 1914-1918 British War Medal and Victory Medal which he applied for 25/08/1921, 2/1st Derbyshire Yeomanry was formed in 1914 and was part of 9th Mounted Brigade, 3rd Mounted Division in the U.K., in October 1916 4 Officers and 165 O/Rs from the regiment were drafted to France as reinforcements to the 14th Battalion Durham Light Infantry, including presumably Lt Bullard, Private Harry Fellows entered France on 11th September 1915 and is shown as entitled to the 1914/15 Star, BWM and Victory Medal, demobilised to Class Z, vendor states he was gifted the items by Bullards niece in the late 1990s
Attributed Second World War Royal Navy Officers full dress gilt bullion epaulettes and bicorne hat by Gieves Ltd, 21 Old Bond St. London, the epaulettes with applied silver rank crown, star and anchor devices, Kings crown gilt buttons to epaulettes and bicorne cockade,held in a japanned fitted velvet lined transit tin with the name 'H.A. Rowley, R.N.' and Gieves brass shield cartouche to the lid, the items belonged to Captain Henry Aubrey Rowley R.N., born in 1896, Henry Rowley joined the Royal Navy in 1909 at 13 years of age, he served throughout the First World War and fought at the Battle of Jutland in HMS Iron Duke, he then served on the minesweeper HMS Moon and finished the war on the Light Cruiser HMS Comus, being promoted Lieutenant in January 1918, he went on to be promoted Lieutenant Commander in 1926, Commander in 1931, and Captain in 1937, in December 1939 he took command of the Cruiser HMS Calypso, on 12th June 1940 Calypso was torpedoed and sunk by the Italian Submarine Alpino Bagnolini 50 miles South of Cape Lithion in Crete, in July 1940 Rowley was given command of the Cruiser HMS Gloucester and on 29th March 1941 fought with the 7th Cruiser Squadron at the Battle of Cape Matapan against the Italian Fleet, on 22nd May 1941 during the Battle of Crete, HMS Gloucester was attacked by German dive bombers of Stukageschwader 2 and hit by several bombs eventually sinking, of the 807 men on board only 85 survived to be picked up by the Germans, sadly, Captain Rowley was killed in action, he was later posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Order for his service at the Battle of Cape Matapan and Mentioned in Despatches for the Battle of Crete, the citation, hand written on his Service Record reads, 'Awarded DSO, Captain Rowley was in command of HMS Gloucester at the Battle of Cape Matapan on 29th March 1941. By reason of the ships position relative to the smokescreen, HMS Gloucester bore the brunt of the fire from a Littoria class Battleship for some twenty minutes. He handled his ship throughout with coolness and good judgement and transmitted valuable reports.This is more commendable as considerable doubt existed as to Gloucesters ability to maintain high speed owing to a defective bearing which materialised two days before and had been rectified by ships staff the previous day and must have been the cause of great anxiety. Mentioned in Despatches for outstanding courage, fortitude and resolution in the Battle of Crete.', Captain Rowley is buried at the Alexandria Hadra War Cemetery in Egypt, the lot also includes an original photograph of this fine Naval Officer in full dress uniform as a Commander, wearing WW1 service medals, the items come direct from family

In August 1774, Priestley heated mercuric oxide by focusing light from a burning glass on it. The gas released from this experiment he called 'dephlogisticated air.' Priestley became famous for his discovery, and Antoine Lavoisier later gave the substance its modern name of oxygen.

In a very important addition to his text, Darwin here tries to reconcile the theory of evolution with the traditional conception of God’s creation of the world. The title leaf is unopened. Freeman binding variant a. with upright of L in London over right-hand upright of H in JOHN in spine imprint and with 1 mm gap between lower triangle and gilt rule below it.
