A GROUP OF FOUR RELATED LINEN SAMPLERS BY MEMBERS OF THE CLAPPERTON FAMILY, 1821-8 AND C variously inscribed Susan Clapperton aged 8 years finished this work February 11th 1828, Ann Clapperton's work aged 11, J Clapperton aged 10 yrs and Margaret Clapperton her work May 26 1821, the largest with a mounted falconer, dog, stags, dovecote, peacock and other motifs around a central verse, 50.5 x 44cm, framed++Susan Clapperton - moth damaged lower left corner and lightly browned, Margaret Clapperton - moth damage extreme lower centre and small moth hole lower left, faded and timestained, J Clapperton (second largest) line stain near figure 10 and another rust stain upper right corner, typical fading and light stains overall. Ann Clapperton, the largest sampler in best condition with some localised dark staining in the extreme top also moth hole extreme centre and somewhat lower right hand edge- an attractive group of equal merit

A Chinese blue and white dish, mid 18th century, decorated with incense burner and tools, beneath a willow tree with peony, and with peony and pine painted rim, 35.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: There is a small V shape hairline scratch to the centre of the dish and a further light surface scratch to the rim (if on a clock face at 9 o'clock). There are numerous frittings around the rim which is to be expected. The plate rings out when lightly tapped.
