A late 19th Century French lacquered brass cased clock garniture the eight day movement by Japy Freres of Paris the painted pottery dial depicting hummingbirds amongst foliage with mud and straw huts on far bank of river the garnitures similarly decorated to the cylindrical main bodies CONDITION REPORTS Light surface scratches to the ceramic on both of the garnitures and to the ceramic panel on the clock. Light surface scratches to the brass and some small areas of tarnishing. A couple of tiny dents to the brass on the front left corner of the clock. General wear and tear commensurate with age and use. See photos for more details. Unable to state whether or not the clock is in full working order.
A 19th Century gilt brass cased mantel clock the eight day movement by Japy Freres of Paris the circular painted porcelain dial with central river landscape decoration inscribed Ernest Miroy Paris within a chapter ring of Roman numerals over a further painted panel depicting two figures in an interior flanked by further river landscapes raised on lions paw feet and carved giltwood stand CONDITION REPORTS Some light surface scratches. A build up of dust in areas. Accretions. Small areas of tarnishing to the brass. The raised white dot of enamel below the number 11 has partially come away. The gilt wood base has some wear and there are splits to the silk lining on the base. General wear and tear commensurate with age and use. See photos for more details.
A Victorian coromandel and ebonised vanity case containing various cut glass dressing table bottles with silver plated mounts, button hooks, scissors, penknife, etc, as well as two further drawers, one opening to reveal label inscribed "Charles Henry Manchester" CONDITION REPORTS Numerous light surface scratches to the wood, accretions and some discolouration and fading in areas mainly to the front and the top of the box. Some splits to the veneer, one to the front left corner of the lid and continues round to the side of the lid. A couple of small splits to the right hand side of the lid. There is an area of loss to the ebony banding in the back right hand corner of the box, numerous scuffs and knocks and small dents to the wood. Possibly a small area of repair to the veneer in the middle of the front of the lid. The bottles and items have some light surface scratches both to the silver and to the glass. Some of the bottles have chips to the rims. The vanity mirror has several cracks. Some fadinf and discolouration to the velvet and a split to the leather on one of the trays. Item has general wear and tear commensurate with age and use. See photos for more details.
A Chinese silver ashtray with integral matchbox holder, decorated with prunus blossom and birds, a Chinese silver simulated bamboo photograph frame, a similar photograph frame decorated with prunus blossom and another similar (mainly by Wang Hing), together with a similar tri-form entree dish in the form of stylised flowers, total weighable silver approx 15.3 oz CONDITION REPORTS All pieces have light surface scratches and tarnishing in areas. Most of the pieces have polish residue. One of the stands has detached from one of the picture frames. All items have general wear and tear commensurate with age and use. See photos for more details.
A late 20th Century Rolex watch, the movement stamped "Rolex Geneva" to the face with numeral markers and the movement stamped to back "Rolex Geneva 19 Rubies Swiss" and No'd. "1600", the 15 carat gold stamped "WHW" and No'd. "43293RWCOLD00156 Birmingham 1981" and 9 carat gold strap CONDITION REPORTS Unknown if working. Is ticking but not keeping time. Condition - the watch itself has general wear and tear, light surface scratches, etc. to include small marks where the back has been taken off frequently or on occasion. The strap is a Wristwear strap, again with surface scratches, etc. Face size 3.1cm dia. length inc. shoulders 3.8cm, strap 19.5cm length. See images for further detail.
An automaton singing bird jardiniere in the manner of Blaise Bontems circa 1880 the perch amongst flowers of shell form the bird of irridescent turquoise and blue plumage (for restoration) the jardiniere body decorated with guitarist in a garden playing to two seated ladies by a lakeside incised to base "1276-d/2" (for similar example see Bailly "Automata, The Golden Age" p.48 - a luxurious exhibition piece by Bontems ...) CONDITION REPORTS Cracks, splits and areas of loss to the papier mache top. Areas of loss to the shells. There appears to be a whole shell flower missing. Light surface scratches and accretions and wear to the gilt on the jardinier. The mechanism and bellows are in working order. The body of the bird is present although it is in extremely poor shape. A collection of four early 19th Century English pottery jugs including a Sunderland lustre "British Slavery/Farmer's Arms" jug, a Pearl ware jug inscribed "Joseph Chrimes 1802 - The Coopers Arms Prosperity Attend the Integrity of our Cause", another inscribed "Richd & Mary Roberts Blaysdon 1810", a yellow ground jug decorated with transfer shooting scene and harvest scene and an Adams ironstone "Indian Tree" jug CONDITION REPORTS The yellow ground jug has numerous surface scratches, scuffs, accretions, discolouration, wear to the transfer print and scratches to the transfer prints. Chips to the rim of the jug, wear to the glaze around the top of the rim and the spout, large chip to the base and about an inch long crack to the side of the rim. Further small chips to the base. Staining in areas and on the inside. The Richard & Mary Roberts jug has crazing, discolouration in areas, numerous surface scratches, accretions, build up of dirt, small chips to the rim and the spout, some wear to the decoration. The Joseph Chrimes jug has numerous surface scratches, accretions, scuffs and wear. There have been numerous repairs both to the rim, the spout, the handle and to the sides of the jug. Discolouration, accretions, heavy damage with large cracks to side of the jug. The Adams ironstone jug has numerous light surface scratches, accretions, some staining in areas, some scuffs. The Sunderland lustre jug has numerous surface scratches and scuffs, discolouration and staining in areas. Areas of wear and loss to the decoration, numerous blemishes to the pink lustre glaze. A pair of 19th Century Jacob Petit porcelain dressing table scent bottles as seated Turks, he with a hookah pipe, she with a flower in hand CONDITION REPORTS The height of both figures is approx. 22 cm. The female figure has an area of loss to one of the arms. The ends of the thumb and the index finger are missing and there is evidence of old repair to the arm and hand. Light surface scratches. Build up of dust and accretions. Wear to the gilt. There is a chip to the underside of one of her shoes. The male figure has some light surface scratches and wear to the gilt. Accretions. There are some small chips to the top of the crown shaped part of the body of his pipe. General wear and tear commensurate with age and use. See photos for more details.
A set of four Vienna porcelain cabinet cups (36454) each decorated with a hand painted portrait of young woman within a gilt border on a green ground with all over foliate decoration bearing beehive mark to base and number 1 entitled "reflexion" attributed to Wagner CONDITION REPORTS Light surface scratches on all the cups and saucers, minor wear to the gilt on all items, build up of dust and dirt in areas mainly to the inside, accretions on most of the items. There is wear to the green glaze on all saucers. There is a starburst crack to the glaze on the underside of one of the saucers. All items have general wear and tear commensurate with age and use.
