Brenda Malley (Ireland b.1954). Rose Light. Watercolour, signed l.r., and titled verso with artist's label. 15.5 x 19.5ins. Framed & glazed. Brenda Malley was born in Dublin in 1954 and studied History of Art at University College Dublin. Brenda's work has been represented by the Leinster Gallery, Dublin, the Barbara Stanley Gallery, London, by the James Wray Gallery Belfast, and by the Whitethorn Gallery in Clifden, Connemara.In 2010 Brenda received an award from Culture Ireland to present a solo exhibition "Across the Sea" in the Irish Cultural Centre of New England, in Canton, Massachusetts. She was also the recipient of a residency award at Cill Rialaig Artist retreat in Ballinskelligs, Co. Kerry in 2009.
BROOKE CHARLES: (1829-1917) Rajah of Sarawak 1868-1917. A.L.S., C J Brooke, one page, 8vo, n.p., n.d. ('Sunday'), to Signor Beccari. Brooke asks if his correspondent and a Marquess will accompany him at dinner that evening, adding 'I know the Marquess is unwell & he must come or not as he feels inclined'. With blank integral leaf. A couple of very small, light stains to the edges of the letter, not affecting the signature and only very slightly affecting a few letters of the text. About VG. £80-100
