Willem I Hekking (Dutch, 1796-1862), still-life of mixed Spring flowers with a butterfly, signed, oil on panel, 52cm x 42cm,. Small loss of surface decoration towards the base visible on photograph, some light surface wear throughout most noticeable where frame meets the panel, some diagonal surface scratches, no noticeable defects under UV.
19th Century British School. Portrait of General Sir John Stuart (1759-1815). Count of Maida, Colonel of the 20th (the East Devonshire) Foot. Depicted wearing the Order of the Crescent, awarded in 1802 by the Sultan of Turkey. Oil on canvas, indistinctly signed and dated lower right. Relined. 84 x 64cm. Framed. Born in Georgia, USA, after an education at Westminster School Stuart enlisted with the 3rd Foot Guards and fought with the Loyalists in the War of American Independence. He then served in Europe in a long and distinguished military career during which he took part in the capture of Menorca, commanded the Foreign Brigade on the plain of Alexandra, and took part in the British/Russian protection of the Kingdom of Naples. Most notably Stuart played a key role in the defeat of Napoleonic Troops at Maida in Southern Italy for which he was awarded a KCB and became known as the ‘Hero of Maida’. NB Four years later an inn was named after him in an area of London near Regents Canal, the area now known as Maida Vale. . Literature Arts and Crafts, Christie's South Kensington, 2nd November 2000 lot 158 for a comparable pair. Provenance Glencrutchery House, Douglas, 1897. Private collection Catalogue notes These light fittings were designed by Baillie Scott for the dining room of Glencrutchery House, Douglas in 1897-1898. In the same year he was also commissioned by the Grand Duke of Hesse to redecorate and furnish both the dining room and drawing room in the Ducal Palace, Darmstadt. The metalwork was produced under the supervision of Charles Robert Ashbee at the Guild of Handicrafts.

HARRIS (British 20th Century), study of two hunters, dark and light bays in a landscape with river, signed, oils on canvas. 82 x 105cm approx. (B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Basically in good original condition, a little grubby, no obvious holes. Frame also in fair condition, no wear and tear commensurate with age.
TWO GEORGE III BRITISH CAVLARY OFFICERS SWORDS to include: light cavalry troopers sword pattern 1796 with gold etched blade and metal mounted leather scabbard, wire bound grip. Together with a similar period officers sword with gilt metal guard, wire bound sharkskin grip and engraved blade featuring a dragon and scrollwork. No scabbard. (2) (B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Both are in poor condition, the officers sword heavily tarnished. The blade with many nicks, the gilding to the hilt very tarnished although the wire and the sharkskin is good. Troopers sword badly nicked, discoloured and tarnished overall. Scabbard in poor condition, lacking the tip area.

Green printed marks to base dating from 1894 to 1910. (B.P. 24% incl. VAT) CONDITION REPORT: Minor wear to gilding in places. Rather grubby with stains, general light wear, scratches in places. 2 cups - one has haircrack, the other has a chip to base.2 saucers - very minor chip (one to each saucer).Cream jug - hair crack to interior.2 plates - badly damaged/ cracked with repairs.
