A rare child’s version of a Zeppelin crewman’s cap. Of Navy blue cloth has a light blue band and light blue piping around the crown, which also has wire stiffening. It bears a black tailless cap tally woven in gold with the words ‘Graf Zeppelin’ in letter form quite unlike the original example. The front of the cap bears the National cockade. No lining has been fitted to the cap. GC minor wear. Together with an unusual old ivory paper knife or page turner. 34cm overall length, scrimshaw engraved on one side ‘LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin’, plus a representation of a Zeppelin and ‘Kapt Heinrich Kubis’. Also a Bakelite combined paper-weight/pen holder. The base with groove for a pencil and impressed with a representation of the Hindenburg, below which is ‘Hindenburg’ in white script.
