The conical sides rising from the thick and slightly spreading foot, freely painted to the interior with a spray of leaves and grasses below a wide band bordered by double line borders, all on a white slip under a clear glaze falling in an irregular line on the exterior to expose the grayish-buff ware.Provenance: From an old English private estate. A noted private collector in London, United Kingdom, acquired from the above. Condition: Good condition with minor wear and firing flaws, including kiln grit and dark spots. Compare also a painted Cizhou deep bowl, also dated to the Jin dynasty and similarly painted in an abstract manner, at Christie's New York in Masterpieces of Cizhou Ware: The Linyushanren Collection Part IV on 13 September 2018, lot 831, sold for USD 40,000.
