A significant early 19th Century oil painting by William Collins R.A (1788-1847) The picture entitled "Scene on the Coast of Norfolk". The large canvas dipicting two young figures with a dog at foot, one using a telescope, the view from Norfolk Coast, with fishing baskets and figures bringing in the catch. The painting with an a well executed play of light from the sun set, size 122x92cm the gilt frame with applied tablet W Collins R.A. Provenance the painting was commissioned by the late Earl of Liverpool. Another conforming example was presented upon request to the Prince Regent. The Royal Acadamy described the picture as " full of the finest qualities of the painters work: ref Memories of the Life of William Collins by his son W Wilkie Collins. The picture circa 1818.
